Austin Skinner is not your typical southern boy, don’t let the cowboy boots fool you. From the start, easily jumping on the bandwagon with his native-Texas-Country friends left much to be desired. It was the sounds of Al Green, Michael McDonald, Curtis Mayfield, The Isley Brothers that would feed his soul.
The Nashville transplant would find himself cutting teeth in the honky-tonks five nights a week for 3 years, turning heads with his liquid-smooth vocals and soulful guitar playing. After two years, Skinner's musical Mecca beckoned. "I was introduced to John [Gifford III, Manager of FAME Studios, Muscle Shoals, Alabama] by a mutual friend, and instantly knew..I gotta make a record there." A summer filled with jam sessions, late nights writing songs, and plenty of Armagnac, Austin Skinner, backed by his band of fellow Nashville transplants, released "Sugar" independently to rave reviews.
Austin Skinner is traveling the country in support of his first EP, "Sugar," and remains an active musician in Nashville, where he currently resides.
