"HM Review"

Good, groovy, sporadic, mathematical. Incub-ish. Theres a lot to love here in this 6 song EP, When the War is Over. Daniel Algaras vocals shine bright here amongst the fun-to-follow instrumentation. Like most good trios, the music here is tightly played and well produced. The songs are dynamic and distinct little vignettes, showing restraint, patience, and chaos and energy- all at the same time. Track ..3, The Erudite is a 12 minute, 32 second epic with 5 movements: The logos defense,: Rumination, Aperture Internal, Ensuing Essence (Turmoil), and Musing Expiration. Like most Pick of the Litter choices, we predict youll be hearing a lot more from this band. (Doug Van Pelt, HM Magazine January 2006)

When the War is Over
Artist: AutoDefe
Label: Indie
Time: 6 tracks

Ah-toe-duh-fae.

AutoDefe is an out-of-the cookie pan type band. They have their heavy, their melodic, their rock, and their variety. If there was one genre to define AutoDefe, it would either be Post-Hardcore or Indie Rock. By defining this one band by a limited scope of a genre would really miss the whole idea and/or sound that this band progresses forward with. AutoDefe is really a band that is one of the more original out there today.

Their music is highly based off of a rock scope. It is when the structure of their songs play out that the real definition of When the War is Over begins. Their songs are passionately heart filled anthems of their faith. It is really an art form. As AutoDefe's music progresses, builds, then maps out a course.

When the War is Over starts with the foundation of the song. It then plays through until it meets a new breadth of dynamic. This dynamic applies itself to new visions of song structure. Take this for example, the song they start out with could last three minutes normally. They then press forward with their musical talents. This use of their musical talents could bring a song that has more of a build-up, a flow, a mood of sorts. This three minutes could turn into five or more. The reason is that the music has more of an intimate story like feel to it. To accent certain lyrical basis AutoDefe also uses other languages/meanings to add more emotion and flavor. It is like, "whoa, was that Latin?!". Even though this Cd is six tracks it has enough of a solid dynamic to suffice for a reason to get this CD.

Bio

AutoDefe is a rock band bent on bringing musicianship and artistry back into the pop/rock realm where the Big Five rule on high determining what popular music should be. Ignoring fads and making music contrary to format is what they do best and in doing so have created a way to progress music into artistry unhindered. There's no one telling them to what to create or not create. They have only the purpose of exploring the human condition and its ultimate fate. They believe there is a way out and without blind acceptance their music works out an expression with fear and trembling to decide what is the purpose of life, art...everything.

The members of AutoDefe are Dan Algara (guitars, vocals), Josh Paul (Bass), Richard Barnett (Drums). Currently based outside of Nashville, they have toured extensively for the past 4 years on US tours averaging 120 shows a year. Their acclaimed debut release "When the War is Over EP" was released to retailers nation wide through Infinity Dist. in August 2005. Their first single "When the War is Over" reached the top ten on multiple radio markets. AutoDefe is currently writing for their first full length release set for late 2006.
