Auto-Matic Vaudeville

Ian M. Colletti is a New York City Composer/Writer/Arranger, Singer, Multi-Instrumentalist Performer, and Community Arts Space Founder/ Coordinator. He was born in Pelham, Bronx NYC, and grew up on the Hudson in Lower Westchester. At a young age he started playing violin in various Youth Orchestra’s and had performed in both Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall by the time he was twelve.

He has studied for his Bachelor’s Degree in Classical/ Jazz Performance and Composition for various instruments and instrumentation in both the Conservatory of Music at UNCG, North Carolina and the Conservatory of Music at SUNY Purchase, NY. During this time, Ian wrote and recorded chamber scores and music for his own psychedelic musical groups, as well as writing a film score to a non-dialouge film that won 1st place in the Universty Film Competion and awarded it’s company a $10,000 dollar grant. Through College he taught and tutored Music Theory , gave music performance lessons to other students and children and was a proffessional musical therapist at nursing homes and hospitals to pay his way through school. He also worked in Lincoln Center as the coordindator and buyer of Classical and Modern recorded music in the ground’s store.

Ian has long worked in many musical outfits, has been and is a bandleader performer, singer and recording artist in the NYC alternative music and art pop scene and has played alongside many famous acts under “Auto-Matic Vaudville”. He has also curated many successful shows and events in Venues such as PS 122, and continues to write original musical scores for Film, Dance and Fashion. He is a collector and performer of a multitude of Western and Eastern Instruments as well as antique and analog synthesizers, organs and obscure curiosities. He uses all these real instruments in his studio for the expansion and scope of color and expression in his musical pallette.

In 2008 Ian transformed his working music studio into a community arts space named “Vaudville Park”, which has housed guest curators of Film, Visual, Scultoral, Performance and Installation Art, Music, Comedy and Dance, as well as been a useful location for film shoots. “Vaudville Park”

has often been listed in NYC papers, and has recieved frequent praised critical revue from Time Out NY, as well as the Village Voice.
