I CAN’T RUN FROM YOUR MEMORY

I CAN’T RUN FROM YOUR MEMORY
Words and music by Terry and Autumn Sater ©2008

Beyond the edge of the picture framed of you and me
More than meets the eye
More than you can see.
Beyond the smiles and the holding hands what will you find
A love that’s gone
That once was strong

I can’t run from your memory
I can’t run from your memory

Twenty years from now will anyone care
If our picture’s on a wall
Will anyone stop and stare
Will our love end up at the bottom of a stack
Faded memories
Of forgotten photographs

I can’t run from your memory
I can’t run from your memory

(bridge) Keep in your mind, you may have left but our love hasn’t died

I can’t run from your memory
I can’t run from your memory
I can’t run from your memory
I can’t run from your memory
I don’t want to run from your memory.

Rain

Written By: Terry Sater and Autumn Sater

I feel the rain carving on my soul
Probing in the shadows where I won’t go
Touching every part of me, Revealing what I don’t want to see

And I want you, I breathe you,
Oh what can I do, but let the cleansing rain make me whole

A cloud of bitterness attempts control
With foggy reminiscence I can’t console
But the rain unveils what cannot be, in a gentle flood of reality

And I want you, I breathe you,
Oh what can I do, but let the cleansing rain make me whole

I’ve waited for the sun and your smile to bring a warm wind
But the storm of tears and broken love keeps rolling in

And I want you, I breathe you,
Oh what can I do, but let the cleansing rain make me whole
And I want you, I breathe you,
Oh what can I do, but let the cleansing rain make me whole

I feel the rain carving on my soul

Blue Dress

Blue Dress
© Words and music Terry Sater and Autumn Sater

(Verse 1)
A beautiful blue dress
Now tattered and torn

A heart filled with love
Now just feels worn

An old photograph
Now yellowed with scorn

A picture of promise
Turned to visions of war

(CHORUS)
Before him, I used to laugh
Before him, I used to cry
Before him, I used to love

Now all am is broken inside.

(Verse 2)
Devoted to the cause
He wore a flag on his arm

Promising to be home soon
We were blind to the harm

(CHORUS)
Before him, I used to laugh
Before him, I used to cry
Before him, I used to love

(Bridge)
Home after a year
He refused to break down.
Thought he’d left it behind
But war followed him home

(CHORUS)
Before this, he used to laugh
Before this, he used to cry
Before this, he used to love

Now all that he was has shattered and died.

(CHORUS) 2x
Before him, I used to laugh
Before him, I used to cry
Before him, I used to love

Now all am is broken inside.

An old photograph

A heart filled with love

A picture of promise

A beautiful blue dress
