The ’90s were a good time for poppy, female-fronted trip-hop songs that were so blissed out that they seemed to float out of your speakers on fluffy little clouds. Brisbane, Australia-based trio Avaberée has recreated that feeling with their new single “Can’t Get You Off My Mind” from their debut album In Your Arms I Found My Secrets (due out in June on Other People Records). The video nails the songs mood perfectly, with the women performing in front of a hippie-style psychedelic light show representing the track’s swirling sonics and a messily entangled couple’s story representing its swooning mood. - Entertainment Weekly

Every so often we get to introduce you to an artist that gives us excited tingles – the kind that come from the knowledge that this clever thing is really going places. In the case of Avaberée, those tingles are tripled, with three wonderfully tuneful ladies turning us into a bowl of wibbly-wobbly music-loving jelly.

The trio from Brisbane see their tunes as a bit of a crafty exercise: warm, honest lyrics stitched together with poppy harmonies and layered over a tapestry of colourful beats and rhythms. For us, it's just great music that we're happy to blast into our ears. Maybe while scoffing cupcakes and sipping on a ginger beer.

Just last week they released the first single from their debut EP, In Your Arms I Found My Secrets, and we're chuffed to be offering up the world premiere of the summery, vaguely psychedelic video clip. Brisbane-based electro indie-pop three-piece Avaberée have announced that they have signed with esteemed US indie label Other People Records, hot on the heels of unveiling brand new single Can't Get You Off My Mind, taken from their forthcoming EP.

Recorded in Los Angeles with rising producer Tommy English (Ladyhawke, Borns), Can't Get You Off My Mind provides the first taste of what to expect on the trio's forthcoming release, titled In Your Arms I Found My Secrets. The band have extended their sonic palette somewhat since 2013 debut single Lover Of Mine integrating new instruments, sounds and aesthetics to expand upon their existing ideas and sidle ever closer to coming into their own.

It would seem it's a transitionary period that has paid off for Avaberée in light of their signing, though, with Other People's Tom Williams saying of the deal: "When my partner at the label, Jesse Barnett, showed me Avaberée, I was instantly moved. Gen, Irena and Aimee have such a profound chemistry with each other, and with In Your Arms I Found My Secrets they were able to harness an energy that is so infrequently tapped into.

"To be this good, this early on in their career, is truly exciting."
