"Review: Globalfest’s World Music for a Connected World"

"Ava Rocha and her band: amiable melodies, poetic lyrics, hints of Brazilian rhythms and taut arrangements that sometimes let the guitars get noisy. Her performance suggested a playful ritual." - New York Times

"Our Top Discoveries From globalFEST 2018"

"The smokey-voiced Brazilian singer, songwriter and filmmaker Ava Rocha brews up an intriguing blend of tropicalia, rock and performance art — it almost seems as if she's channeling both Diamanda Galas and David Bowie." - NPR

"Globalfest 2018: The Best Ever"

"Brazilian rock singer Ava Rocha led her wickedly psychedelic four-piece band through a deliciously acidic, unpredictably shapeshifting set." - New York Music Daily

"At a New Locale for its 15th year, Globalfest Enthralls Music Lovers"

"Ava Rocha, whose brand of post-tropicália avant-pop enthralled a tightly packed audience at Lucille’s, where many sang along as she moved almost like Janis Joplin on stage. Her husky vocals and unique dress paired with a goblet at her feet ensured eyes were glued to the stage." - Sounds and Colours

"The Best Albums of 2015"

Brazilian singer Ms. Rocha has inherited the aesthetic breadth and playfulness of the late-1960s Tropicalia movement and connects it with new rock, funk, samba, free improvisation, “serious” composition, and noise; few records this year were as deep and fun. - New York Times
