Bio

Nashville’s 2007 Music City Rising Star Grand Champion and named 2007 Sonic Search for a Star Teen Champion, Avery Hovey has started a new chapter in her ever changing life, and she is only 19. Born in 1991 in Manchester NH Avery’s rough start in life never stopped her from living life to the fullest & owning her dream. By the age of 3 Avery was singing in her signature “shaky voice” for all those who would listen, and boy did they ever! By age 7 she was entertaining people at Buzzy’s Skyview Lounge in Hudson NH. Avery began writing her own songs by the age of 10. Though not award winning songs none the less but very impressive for a child of only 10 years. In the fall of 2001, Avery recorded her first cd of cover songs with her friend & producer Stacy Marchand. Avery’s passion for music grew with every performance. Dubbed “The Little Girl with the Big Voice” Avery went on performing in state, regional & international competitions representing the state of NH. Avery captured many awards along the way.
In June of 2004 the family packed their belongings & sold their home in Litchfield NH & moved to Nashville Tennessee so Avery could prepare for a career in the music industry.
When asked who her musical influences are Avery replied, “In my younger years I loved to listen to bands such as Alanis Morristte, Janis Joplin , Fleetwood Mac, Selena, just to name a few. Now I enjoy almost anything. My mom always told me to keep an open mind when it came to music & I thank her for that.” Her parents bought her a karaoke machine at the age of 7 hoping to help her with her reading & comprehension when all it did was fuel her musical passion even more. Avery has an impressive library of self penned songs & will be heading to the studio to record a new cd of her writings due for release in early 2011. The cd will show the young writers style as mature & easy listening. Avery will play her acoustic guitar & ukulele on the cd as well.
While in Nashville Avery sang at many establishments & venues such as, Tootsies, Long Hollow Jamboree, The Hotel Preston, The Commodore, Opry Mills Mall, Portland TN Strawberry Festival, and many benefits such as Relay for Life. Avery also performed at other Tennessee venues such as, Louise Mandrel Theater Pigeon Forge TN, Country Tonight Theater Pigeon Forge TN, just to name a few. She has opened for Jett Williams (daughter of the late great Hank Williams Sr.). Avery has also performed in Tennessee at The Williamson County Fair, Lincoln County Fair, Putnam County Fair, Sumner County Fair, and had a regular acoustic show at Woody’s Steak House in Madison Tennessee. Avery will return to her home state of New Hampshire in early January for good to share her music with friends & fans all over New England.
Avery & her band of professional players known simply as The Avery Hovey Band will be available for booking in early 2011.
