Defy is 21 year old Avi Ghosh, a talented, multi-instrumentalist who also handles all aspects of recording, engineering, and producing. Within a week of public release in 2002, the band's music shot to the top of several Internet charts, instantly drawing an extremely eclectic group of followers around the world. Even commercial radio stations in Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Ohio, and Missouri have picked up on the buzz of Defy.
Ghosh has just completed his degree at the University of Mississippi as a computer science engineering student and has spent the summer of his graduation preparing the remix follow-up to the band's third effort "This Means Goodbye" as well as a brand new full length release titled "The Distance Apart" slated for release this October. Ghosh will follow up these releases with a 2007 winter/spring/summer tour in support of the efforts with a brand new live band and relocated headquarters.
While the band has sold out of every release to date, Apple's iTunes have picked up every effort and is selling the band's entire discography on their music store. Several other digital distributors have followed lead with Rhapsody and Napster starting to offer the band's music on their highly visited music stores.
