Take Your Life Over

Written By: Avi Katz

Take Your Life Over

Bob's in a job that started part time
He pays what he earns though he can't save a dime
He wanted a career now he's living like a mule
He can't bare the weight, so he's going back to school

Tom fell in love with a girl that he met
He can't face his wife cause he's full of regret
Hiding in motels and acting like a kid
He wants to trade her in, time that he did.
Set back the clock and take your life over (repeat)

Jim always tries to please everyone
He wants to just do right, but isn't having fun
You can't free a life that's caught in a net
So he's trading in his van, and buying a Corvette
Set back the clock and take your life over (repeat)

Chorus:
Thirty-five years
It's time to make a change
Gathering up the strength
Passing through a stage
Trying to take control
Doing what I can
Gonna to make him proud
Gonna be a man
If you really want to be in clover
Set back the clock and take your life over.

(Solo)

Set back the clock and take your life over (repeat)
Flat on your back but your feeling sober
Set back the clock and take your life over
Take your life over

(end)

Mail Order Bride

Written By: Avi Katz

Mail Order Bride

See the kids three times a month
Pay all the bills and buy her stuff
It's not my fault it fell apart
Cause it was born from a rocky start.

We tried so hard to work it out
Talked it through but cast in doubt
Got support from all around
Have to leave before I drown.

Chorus:
Can't be like one and compete with you
Won't paint these years in shades of blue
I'll look ahead for the changing tide
Next time it'll be, a mail order bride.

It makes no sense and life's too short
We both attack our only fort
Can't agree who runs this place
At the top there isn't space.

(solo)

Don't know how it was done before
This foundation is not my floor
Can't walk on air or drink this stone
Bricks won't fix this broken home.

(chorus, end)

Day To Day

Written By: Avi Katz

Day to Day

I can swim in the blue
That is all, I seem to do
And my dreams, pass me by
As I move to the side, to the side.

Rise up, face, another day
Looking through filtered haze
Keeping my point of view
As my guide of what is true, what is true.

Chorus:
I shaped my ways in a stage
That provided a cage
To deny me a frame
To get by day to day

Will there be another time?
That control, of my mind
Is in the hands of a few
Like it was in my youth, in my youth

(chorus, end)

Innocence

Written By: Avi Katz

Innocence

Innocence, hold the door
Let me in to your court
Where I spent all my time
As a child of your kind.

Innocence, is it true?
Only some, are welcome to
To a stage in their life
When their world was really bright.

Chorus:
Everyday stands to hold
A special place for my soul
I see it now before my eyes
Innocence, hear my cries!

Innocence, make room for me
I'm coming back to your knee
In your care, you will see
A better man than I can be.

(chorus)

Innocence, can it be
That your time is gone for me
But I yearn and I dream
Of that place, that's so serene.

( end)

Ordinary Day

Written By: Avi Katz

Ordinary Day

I dotted my I's, and crossed my T's
Indented and skipped a line
I kept a stiff upper lip, a firm handshake
Good manners and showed up on time.

I respected the queue, spoke in my turn
Gave tidings and was true to my wife
Had my faith in god, belief in it all
And always made the most of my life.

I didn't have a drink or even a smoke
But loved to break bread with strangers
Had a door that was open and a place for the guests
And always lent a hand to the neighbors.

I built a home with my hands, walked the dog everyday
And grew the food that I put on the table
I road a bike to my job, worked hard for my pay
And volunteered for the poor when I was able.

Chorus:
The radio reports the traffic and weather
That warns of construction ahead
It's partly cloudy with a chance of clearing
But the rain's falling down instead
The cars soar by my spot on the freeway
As an eagle hunts for its pray
We carry on, it's business as usual
On a very ordinary day, on a very ordinary day.

I thought it was a dream, at the time of the news
And it shocked me right down to the core
Just weeks to live and no treatment at all
And I could have seen a doctor before

I'll finish the shed, and sort through my things
Write a will, and settle my accounts
I'll say good bye to my wife, my kids and my friends
While I wonder what my life was about.

(chorus)

All In Good Time

Written By: Avi Katz

All In Good Time

Chorus:
When you grow up
You'll have a family and a nice life
House of your own
And a young pretty wife
You'll enjoy having children
And living your prime
Patience is a virtue
All in good time.

Moving and thumping and feeling the beat
Shooting back liquor and feeling the heat.
My heart's racing badly, exploding inside
Got to keep my composure, (there's) nowhere to hide.

Trying to undress her, by setting a scene
Like a fish out of water, or caught in between
I Look for that break, but her armor's too tough
Can't be alone, and enough is enough

Grasping for stories, trying not to drown
Saving a friendship, slowing it down
She's looking around for someone she knows
Ready to bolt, had enough of my show.

Cause, I wasn't born lucky, never came right to me
Didn't have the looks, or the personality
Was a shoulder to cry on, not to kiss or caress
A waste of a lifetime, a big fucking mess.

(chorus)

The music is changing, she wants some fresh air
She winks, then she smiles and signals me there.
Cigarettes, neon, and the stars and the moon
Starting to feel that she's changing her tune.

We talk and we laugh and we gaze and we stare
Our eyes lock again, her soul is so fair.
She grabs on my shoulder and pulls me in close,
We're starting to kiss and I love her the most.

(chorus, end)

I'll Get On My Knees

Written By: Avi Katz

I'll Get on my Knees

I get into the twilight
I get into the stars
I get into the nightlife
I get into the bars

I get into your passion
I get into your dreams
I get into your fashion
I get into your schemes

Chorus:
Why don't you stop
Why don't you listen
Free me from this prison
Let me in your life now
Be with me?

I get into your brown eyes
I get into your sway
I'd get into your bedroom
(But) you'd get into the way.

I get into the sunsets
I get into the breeze
I get into your essence
I'll get on my knees

(chorus)

Bridge (repeat):
Walking through the streets
And you are on my mind
All the time

I get into your laughter
I get into the tease
I get into rejection
I'll get on my knees x 2

(chorus, bridge)

I'll get on my knees x 3

(end)

Pack-up and Run

Written By: Avi Katz

Pack up and Run

Rotten kids who won't leave home
Are living sins for me to atone
They plan their futures around my estate
And always remind me of the life I hate

My heart is vacant, no warmth inside
No place for love, only pride
I share my life, so hard and tough
Composed facades, and all that fluff.

Chorus:
Let's all cheer for the traditions of love
(And) exchange our vows, witnessed above
Redeemed again, in the world to come
Oh blissful joy, pack up and run.

A mother is born from a bride that was
And Intimacy has bitten the dust
A struggle ensues, prints on the banner
A coup-de-tat has taken over the manner

(chorus)

These golden years I come upon
Will burn my soul to kingdom come
I'll make the break and live alone
I'll eat the meat and pass the bone.

(chorus, end)

Shame All Around

Written By: Avi Katz

Shame All Around

Jet sets around and never sits idle
Leaves an impression that anything's possible
Persistent and charming, but busy as hell
Carries those things that connect him so well.

His wife and kids stay neglected at home
(While) he caters to mistresses - persistent to roam
Stays on the phone for hours some time
Elegant, poised, but ignoring the crime.

Chorus:
How long will it be before it comes to a break?
Untangling this web of deceit and mistake
Broken hearts hemorrhaging and blood on the ground
Ashes and ruin and shame all around.

Everyone wants him so much in their life
He's carved out his stake, and they won't risk his flight
(His) success and (his) money have them chained to a collar
Until they learn how to take every dollar.

(chorus)

What kind of life is it to be on the hook?
Tied up in knots and freedom mistook
A King with a harem that's deep underground
No loyal subjects, no castle, no crown

(chorus, end)
