"Babylon Jazz Assault"

Feeling a bit camera shy

Avi was born in Tel Aviv, Israel
He picked up the guitar when he was 14. His first influences were the blues and classic rock of the 60's. Through study of guitar and music in his teen years, Avi expended his musical vocabulary by listening and playing other styles such as: classical, world, funk, reggae and the next rock generations.

At the age of 20 Avi started listening to Charlie Parker and miles Davis and his world has changed.
He started to play that great jazz music and decided to go to move to United States, the source of that wonderfull music. He was accepted to Berklee College of Music in Boston. There he had the privilage to study with masters like: Bruce Saunders, Steve Rochinsky and Bruce Katz.
After 2 years of living in Boston, Avi decided to move to Manhattan-the biggest jazz scene in the world.
Today, Avi is still living in Manhattan. He works as a guitar instructor, jazz perfomer and a hired gun for studio and live performances.

His experience with different styles of music influenced his original compositions and his playing all togather. Avi's music is an attempt to create an original voice that combines these styles.
Recently, Avi initiated 2 original projects:

1.His jazz quartet- smoking band that plays his original compositions in clubs as well as jazz standards in different venues, parties and other special events

2. "Sound Hole"-an experimental band that plays a unique improvisational music that will shock you.

Both bands will inspire you to listen to more music, go to more shows and hopefully come to one of Avi's shows again.
