Axis

Axis was formed after Malcolm Gillooly watched Sid and Nancy for the first time in a few years. We started by playing fairly standard sounding punk, but quickly moved on to playing more of a post-punk sound. Malcolm began exploring different ways to create noise and atonal sounds with his guitar, Zalman kept his bass lines simple yet powerful, and Jack just loved playing fast and loud. Although we are still very much a punk band, we attribute our influences to bands that are very much not punk, including Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, The Velvet Underground, and the Swans. We are quite a bit different from our contemporaries with our noise fetish and down-beat style.
