Self motivated with perception beyond his years, this rapping poet born Alfred Coles, Jr. better known as A.J. Coles continues to create a name for himself with not only conscious but entertaining lyricism and an entrepreneurial mind state one has to respect. After independently releasing the mixtapes "The Best of Both Worlds" in 2009 and "On Board" in 2010, A.J. Coles has begun doing college tours and became the CEO of the business representing his music Beyond Average Entertainment/C.K.S (College Kid Swag). Using his humble but confidently unique style he aims to inform, relate to and motivate his listeners one lyric at a time. Born in 1989 in Washington, D.C., A.J. moved from state to state living in Maryland, Pennsylvania and New York until the age of 11. The popular rap & R&B music played in the East Coast during the 90's motivated A.J. Coles's sound and is where his love for hip hop originates from. However, due to his parents divorcing at age eleven he relocated to the midwest to be closer to family in Indianapolis, IN where by finding music and poetry as an outlet his rap career begun. Attending Lawrence North High school in Indianapolis, A.J. built relationships with his now life long friends and business partners. After high school A.J. moved to Atlanta & has been attending the HBCU Clark Atlanta University to not only gain further education, but open up more opportunities with his music. During his matriculation in college, A.J. Coles had progressed to gain a fanbase from his peers through talent shows,
open mic nights, dropping mixtapes,and opening up for artists such as T-Pain, Young Joc, Trey Songz, Waka Flocka and Yelawolf . He's now graduated with a Bachelor's Degree and released his latest project "Not Your Average Mixtape" this year with fellow artist A.P. This project received a 5 star rating review from Coast 2 Coast Mixtapes. Starting from rapping in school hallways and lunch rooms to regularly performing in front of audiences, A.J. Coles continues to gradually perfect his craft as an artist. Staying humble and thanking God for every opportunity and outcome, only bigger and better successes are in the future for this young emcee.

Bio
(Ay-Jay) is an artist and poet who chose to MC after falling love with the hip hop culture as an adolescent. From Indianapolis, IN but currently located in Atlanta, GA, AxJ has released several projects and opened up for popular acts such as Big Boi, MGK, Trey Songz, T-Pain and Waka Flaka. Rather than draw comparisons he rather let his art speak for itself, and is currently working on a new body of work titled The Light Bulb Moment.
In his 1st full length independent LP AxJ brought his most heartfelt project thus far - Cinematic 0.5: The Pursuit of Happiness - 9 songs about the journey to finding one's most important desires. With his push for content along with catchy tunes and live instrumentation listeners will recognize AxJ’s lyrical ability and roots of soulfulness throughout the entirety of The Pursuit of Happiness LP.
While finishing up The Light Bulb Moment AxJ will continue touring at University’s, galleries, traditional venues and creative spaces especially throughout the southeast and midwest.
