Bio

Ayana John (born March 10, 1986) is a Barbadian singer-songwriter, known for her eclectic mix of various musical genres including R&B, pop, soul and reggae. She began performing in small theatrical plays from the age of 9 years, then pursued dance at the age of 11 years - training in the art of Khatak, a form of Indian dance and Jazz.

Ayana received her first Barbados Music Awards (BMA) nomination for Best Dance Single, ‘Bajan Story’ on which she collaborated with Barbadian Reggae Artiste Buggy Fully Loaded, while she was a participant in the Ms. Barbados Universe pageant in 2006. In the year 2007, she released her solo self-penned effort, Guns and Roses, which proved to be very popular in her country receiving another nomination at The BMAs for Best Music Video.

Collaborating once again with producer KB Sharp of HitIsland Inc., the tracks, ‘Bajan Story’ and ‘Guns and Roses’ were followed up by the single ‘Paper Chase’ in the year 2008. This single featured Barbadian Reggae Artiste LRG, and received a record 15,000 downloads on the local download site, Gotrhythm.com, making it the highest downloaded locally produced song, to date.

She received four (4) nominations in the year 2009 for Best R&B/Soul Artiste, Best Collaboration, Song of the Year - ‘Paper Chase’ and Female Entertainer of the Year at the BMAs.

She has just released a six track mini-album - Royal Blue. The tracks are refreshing, unique and catchy. She is backed by the recently formed band BLUE.
