Bio

Ayesha McGowan has been deeply engaged in music since the age of six when she began playing piano. At age 8 she began her studies on violin.
In the sixth grade she joined the New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra. It was here that she learned from many great instrumentalists young and old. This also gave her the opportunity to play at Lincoln Center, On Capital Hill, as well as the United Nations.
At the age of seventeen, she found the missing piece as a member of the Notables, a chamber choir consisting of the more advanced singers in her high school, she got the opportunity to travel around New York and New Jersey performing for appreciative audiences. It was with this same ensemble that she made two appearances on the Carnegie Hall Stage.
After high school Ayesha began her higher education at Rutgers University in New Jersey pursuing a degree in music at the Mason Gross School of the Arts. She was also an Alto/ Tenor in the A Capella group First Light. After a year of studying classical theory at Mason Gross Ayesha decided there must more exciting aspects of music that she was not learning in a classical conservatory. She found her Holy Grail at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
She is currently completing her undergraduate degree in Professional Music. She is also a former member of Grey Street, a Dave Matthews Tribute Band. She is currently involved in a number of projects including playing violin for the punk band "the thin heir, working on the sophomore album for local Boston singer/songwriter "Tony Brown" as well as her 5 piece chamber pop ensemble "Something Stellar". Her biggest priority at the moment is working on a solo debut album to be released in the summer or fall of 2010.
