‘Finding Footprints’ is the brand new EP by Bristol’s own Ayre Point and their folk/rock style is crystal clear from the very first second of opening track ‘Cross The Road’. The song comes off as charming and calm, radio friendly and worthy of a hearty group dance. The same can be said of the following track ‘Let Go’ that proves itself to be an admirable and near-inspiring effort. The introductory tune for ‘Let Go’ is simply jolly and reminiscent of a children’s classic.
Third in the compilation of five is the title track and as far as title tracks go there is room for improvement in my opinion. It is the same style of music as the previous two tracks but, where they were short and sweet, this is long and drawn out for what appear to be unnecessary reasons.
The EP brings out most of its energy in ‘The Apple’ that returns back to the feelings of wanting to perform organised dances with a close group of friends. At times it is difficult to understand what is being sung but that doesn’t matter too much as the music alone should leave you on such a high.
Everything comes to a close with ‘Clutching At Air’ which, whilst almost as long as ‘Finding Footprints’, proves to be nowhere near as disappointing. The style of music is immediately changed and for a while Ayre Point lead you to believe that you’re in for an acoustic treat. This is until the first chorus kicks up and the band’s rock elements shine. At three minutes 20 the listener is in for a treat in what is truly beautifully composed music that really outshines all prior tracks and successfully leaves you craving more.
All in all ‘Finding Footprints’ proves to be a worthy listen. There was a point where halfway through I feared that it’d be the exact same thing spread across five songs and that it’d get old fast. My doubts left me pleasantly surprised when I reached ‘Clutching At Air’ which, I feel, is the standout track of the record. Without so much as a second thought I am going to hit the repeat button and continue to enjoy what Ayre Point have put in my ears. - Live Music Scene

Bio
Ayre Point met in Bristol below the deck of the Apple cider boat three years ago. Folk tales of love, loss and youth come together with energetic rock sensibilities, held together by the uncompromising dream of travelling the world playing music to those who equally wish to break away
The band have been close since meeting at university and their friendship was beyond doubt cemented during their first UK tour in the winter of 2012.
The band have played support slots in every prominent Bristol venue, including the Louisiana and the Fleece. Having also played Greenman Festival, Brisfest and Plymouth Volksfest, Ayre Point, are going from strength to strength in 2013.
Ayre Point is an adaptation of a surf spot where vocalist, Dan spent much of his childhood. Holding significant tradition to him, it also spoke to the rest of the band. It was here that he began to nurture his emergent talent for songwriting.
Now documenting their lives through the raw honesty in their music, the lyrics have followed suit.
Ayre Point, are currently building a solid reputation in Bristol’s indie/rock scene and fans have been awaiting the release of their greatly anticipated new single ‘Nocturnal’.
