Bio

With "on point" vocals and an irresistable creative edge Azara (pronounced uh-zair-uh) is changing the face of gospel music. The Chicago native grew up with music all around her. Her parents musically inclined as well as many of her relatives, she followed right in their footsteps. Azara began singing at the age of 4, listening to many of the great r&b, jazz, and pop legends such as Whitney Houston, Sade, Micheal Jackson, and Mariah Carey and then imitating them and learning their vocal techniques. Her first recorded solo was in a talent show in the seventh grade where she recieved a standing ovation from a crowd of over 200 people. From there, she knew she would pursue music someday. At age 12 she began writing as well as digitally producing and recording her own songs. Throughout middle school and high school she recieved recognition for her outstanding musical talent. She was selected to perform with many honors choirs and recieved numerous awards and #1s for excellence in vocal ability. After being selected for a full music scholarship, she decided to go to school for music. Her parents, however, suggested (or rather insisted) that she pursue a career in the more stable medical field due to her smarts in the math and sciences. After trial and failure due to lack of interest, she dropped out school and decided to go against her parents' wishes and pursue music full time. Though there were many struggles and setbacks she still managed to get her certification in Music Production/Engineering and her associates degree. Outside of school, she began singing in a local girl group named Lady Lyracists who performed at local clubs in Detroit, but the group eventually broke and she went solo. She performed the national anthem for the Detroit Lions, did numerous retirement parties, and other gigs with cover band Elements of Sound, opened her own business (SOul Deep Productions), danced, modeled, and did jingles for local radio and business gaining industry connections, experience, and exposure. By 19, she had completely written, produced, and engineered her first and only R&B album in it's entirety. The EP had been released and two of her singles topped the internet r&b as well as pop charts on soundclick.com making her the #1 unsigned artist for 2 weeks straight on soundclick in 2004. The album was just about to be released when someone introduced her to Jesus Christ and she got saved. She decided to give her music to God and began working on an inspirational album, letting the R&B album collect dust forever -- "it was a great production experience and taught me how to arrange music in the studio as well as how to put together an album but I'd rather not bring that side of me back hehe," Azara laughs, thinking about the past. Now she is headed for success as she completes her debut contemporary gospel album, "Love Notes". This album is a collection of love letters between Azara and God put to her production team's crazy new-school tunes. "I know the wait is almost unbearable, the Lord has had me on a journey in the wilderness for some time, mostly finding out who HE is and who ME is. But I am thankful for every minute and every person God has allowed to grace my life, without Him I am nothing. So enjoy and be encouraged, God loves you so much and I do too! Oh yea, and be on the lookout for the album drop-- it's gonna be a dooozy haha -- be blessed!"
