Throughout the South- west known to Chicanos as Aztlan, the movement of the struggle is still in effect and greater than ever. Treated as foreigners in their own land, Aztlan Underground (AUG) was founded to voice the anger and frustration of the poor and powerless. Formed in Los Angeles in 1990, AUG has been true to their name and beliefs by playing political rallies and underground venues and anywhere that the doors were not closed.

Creating a new sound that is still evolving with every album, AUG captures the psyche and transcends to all ethnic groups, capturing a universal rhythm to convey their message of "self-determination and decolonization” combining the ancient with the modern and the sacred with the profane is realized in the music by fusing the power of rock, world music, jazz, punk, with the roots of indigenous drums, flutes, and rattles. This unique sound is the backdrop to the bands spirit and intentions.
