Bio

Azurdee began her music career at the early age of four when she started singing and composing with an old piano at her fingertips. Raised on a corn farm deep in the hills of Kentucky, this little songbird grew up performing in churches, schools, and local county fairs. Her later school years introduced a whole new world of music with a prestigious spot in the 6 piece Jazz Ensemble at Campbellsville
University.

For the past 4 years, Pretoria has been home to this small town girl and her family. Two years ago, Azurdee started gigging with acoustic guitarist, Al Harris, as a guest artist at Square Time Cafe in Pretoria. A year later she was given an acoustic guitar and couldn’t put it down. In April 2011, Azurdee scored her first paying gig at the Louiziana Diner in Pretoria alongside saxophonist, Marlene Hay. The one month booking continued for nearly a year, with many guest artists joining Azurdee along the way. This gig ushered in many new opportunities throughout the city and beyond, including a regular Sunday spot in Hatfield Square’s Main Stage and Oxford Pub and many solo gigs at Cafe Barcelona. Since Aardklop, record companies were elated with this fresh new arrival on the South African music scene and offers came pouring in. But this road has yet to be paved. Azurdee remains an unsigned artist.

Production began in January 2012 on her debut album
with Producer, Ludwig Bouwer at One Big Room, one
of Pretoria’s top recording, mixing, and mastering studios. An original solo album complete with 30 years of songs telling the stories of backwoods country living and Azurdee’s journey from there, is set to hit the shelves by the end of 2012! She shares the stage with a stunning 4 piece Country/Rock/Folk band who bring out the most in her music: Ludwig Bouwer on bass guitar, lead guitarist Etienne Burger, Gerhardt Diedericks on the drums, and herself on rhythm guitar and lead vocals.
