Bio

AZURI has been jamming together as a family for just over a year now. The band has played many local Michigan bars such as: Confetti’s Liquor Box, Little Dublin, Trolley Stop, and Falls Lounge (WRIF/Guitar Center Show). They have also played four fund raisers for the Motor City Casino. These shows benefited the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, the United Way, and the American Cancer Society. These events raised a lot of money for three wonderful organizations. The band also played a fund raiser for Annapolis High School to help raise money for school renovations. AZURI has been playing regularly in downtown Detroit at Fifth Avenue. This hot new club was built right inside Comerica Park, which is home to the Detroit Tigers! AZURI has played larger venues such as: The Bull Frog (89X Show), US 12 (WRIF Show), The Magic Bag, and The Emerald Ballroom (WRIF Show). They have been in The Real Detroit, The Metro Times, and were featured in the December, 2004 issue of "Midwest Players". AZURI has had radio airplay on WCIMX 88.7 FM (89X), 101.1 FM WRIF, and 101.9 FM WDET!

Jeff Barczak is the newest addition to the band AZURI. He was the lead guitarist in a band with Michael Azoury, Mark Mears, and John Hoadley, formerly known as Morning Wood. The four were not only musicians – but also great friends. They lived together in Detroit and played regularly at Detroit’s vintage rock n roll bar, The Impound. There they opened up for acts such as: Horse, Kid Rock, and Robert Bradley. Playing and creating together as a family at such a young age intervened the passion for music into their bloodstream. Now almost 6 years later the three have joined forces again with Terry Hawkes and Mike DaQuano by their side. They’re striving to relive their past, enjoy the present, and reach the next level of success in this crazy business of music for there future.

From this collaboration of quacks came some pretty damn good songs. The originals that the band has written are melodic, inspiring, energetic yet soothing, and easy to relate with. Many songs deal with issues everyone in life has gone through, is going through, or will go through. They also carry a message in both the lyrics and music.

Each band member learns from one another. Both Jeff and Marks’ talents as guitarists inspire Michael to continue writing new songs. Terry and his wife Shannon’s hospitality allow us to practice comfortably as a band in their home. Mike D’s goofy smile and crazy ass antics keep all of us in good spirits. There’s a lot of good that has come out of this band so far: music, friendships, and memories to name a few, and there is a lot more to come in the future. This band has a unique chemistry to it!
This is just the beginning…
