Bio

Beacons Ablaze is a southern rock/metal band from Houston, Texas that first began rocking the local music scene in 2007. In 2010, the band’s original members, Aaron Eddleman (guitar), Josh Clark (drums), and Billy Dorflinger (guitar), added Mike Wickham (vocals). In 2011, Josh “JB” Brown (bass guitar) joined the band to form the five-member group that, today, is Beacons Ablaze.
Beacons Ablaze is best known for their party-hearty metal style (what the band terms “party-core” – a fusion of hardcore and party metal). This style is embodied in the song, “Battleship Texas,” which consistently gets the crowd energized. Beacons Ablaze is also known for having a flavor that is distinctly southern. From the blues-based guitar riffs, to the lyrics and song titles, such as “Party On, John Wayne,” the music of Beacons Ablaze is deeply rooted in the southern tradition. Beacons Ablaze aims to serve up songs that are both fun and chock-full of southern swagger. The band’s influences are broad, ranging from southern rock, to The Chariot, and Led Zeppelin.
Beacons Ablaze has played shows across Texas at venues including Fitzgerald’s and Walter’s in Houston, Red Eye Fly in Austin, and the White Rabbit in San Antonio. On June 4, 2011, Beacons Ablaze will be sharing the stage with internationally-known bands, such Weezer and Black Dahlia Murder, at Eleanor Tinsley Park in Houston for the 3rd Annual Free Press Summerfest.
On May 17, 2011, the band released its first EP, Standing Strong, which was self-written, and self-produced. The 5-song EP includes, “Beer, Whiskey & Bullets,” “Strange Wilderness,” “Aces ’n Eights,” “Party On, John Wayne,” and the fan-favorite, “Battleship Texas.” The official CD release party will be held at Hoppy’s in Pasadena, Texas on June 11, 2011.
Beacons Ablaze is currently working on a second EP with an anticipated release date in early 2012.
