Following a path toward a major recording career and a place among superstars of popular music is a Rhythm and Blues/ Hip Hop group consisting of four beautiful young ladies. They perform as the group BAAJ, pronounced Beige. BAAJ, unlike their piers, these four young ladies call themselves a symbol of the musical talents, appealing to all. BAAJ is currently writing, and co-producing their first release, with notable producers Coptic and Marty Sutton. During the process of recording, BAAJ is also working to perfect their craft, performing. Performing in Philadelphia, PA. at Penn’s Landing, with several others scheduled performances in the New York City area as well. BAAJ has had the privilege of recording 4 songs with Luther Vandross, as featured Background Vocals with several Top R&B and Hip Hop Artists such as Foxy Brown, Queen Latifa and Busta Rhymes on Luther Vandross's New 2003 CD release “Dance With My Father”. - Michael Tolasco

Bio
April Owens, a 19 year old from New York City and graduate of Fiorello H Laguardia High School of the performing Arts, has been a member of BAAJ from conception and has deep roots in the music industry. Her father, Kevin Owens, has been singing with Luther Vandross over 18 years and is the lead singer for the group Ray, Goodman and Brown. April has also toured with Luther Vandross as a wardrobe and make-up assistant. And has participated in many Pageants and shows across the country. April was also a Dance student under the direction of Bernice Johnson for several years.
Joy James a 19 year old from New York City is a graduate from Fiorello H LaGuardia High School of the performing Arts. Joys musical background stems from her strong gospel roots. Joy has been member of her church choir since the age of 11 and she also was a member of her high school choir at Fiorello H Laguardia High School of the Performing Arts. Joy also enjoys writing literature.
Candace Thomas C.A.T. is a eighteen (18) year old Philadelphian and a graduate of the Creative And Performing Arts (CAPA) high school in Philadelphia, whos Alumni includes the famous recording stars Boys II Men, who are the recipients of several music awards from (CAPA). Born May 24, 1984, Candace is a very outspoken, intelligent young lady with a musical background that stems from her mother and father, whom both are accomplished vocalist and musicians. She has always had a love of music, a member of her church choir since age 8. She was born into a musical family and continues to grow as a vocalist with the group BAAJ.
Julia Byrd is a 19-year-old native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and graduate of Overbrook High School in Philadelphia. In high school, Julia was the captain of the drill team, which competed throughout the country in national events. Julia, like April, Joy and Candace started her singing career in the Church Choir at age 10. Guided by her family, Julia has successfully won several talent competitions in Philadelphia. She is definitely a leader.
