"Dead End Hip Hop"

You know I feel like the battle between old school and new school hip-hop is going to rage on until robots are creating their own music. Back in the day, radio, MTV and other mediums gave us the chance to preview new music before committing to it. The equivalent to that now I feel is social media, a couple weeks ago I was aimlessly scrolling down my Twitter timeline and a vibrant trailer grabbed my attention immediately.

That trailer was from Baby Kahlo and 4KMedia for Kahlo’s video “Trance“. Kahlo displays many facets of talent in this one joint alone, from a catchy hook to the change ups in her verses, Kahlo flows freely over production from Micheal Taylor and TokyoTendo. This is just the beginning for the Baltimore native as she plans to release singles all throughout the year. Keep it locked here for everything hip-hop but for now peep “Trance” above. - Micheal Stover

Baby Kahlo unleashes impressive new single, “Multiply”
Baby Kahlo has been putting these pieces together for a powerful 2018—performances, social media presence—you can find her on and offline.

Today, Baby Kahlo releases her new single, “Multiply.” Trees and Beats brings the hardhitting sample for this thumping track. Aggressively, Kahlo brings the energy for her new single.

Kahlo went on tour earlier this year, a part of Bali Baby’s “Play Girl World Tour.” She’s also been performing along side of hot-new talent: Yung Baby Tate, Deetranada, Sukihana, and more.

I expect more to come from Baby Kahlo. Her ambition to succeed is high and she knows how to set herself a part. Also, not failing to mention, her support system. - Craig T Lee

As part of Bali Baby’s “Play Girl World Tour”, she performed alongside buzzing female artists like Baby Tate, Deetranada, Sukihana, and more. Following up her song “Trance”, “Multiply” is a treesandbeats produced a track with an addictive sound driven by ominous, hellraising production. On this song, Kahlo spits hard rhymes about other women mimicking her and biting her style. Strong yet playful with her delivery, she shows her continually improving skills. “Multiply” is an energetic track that’s raw yet welcoming as her flirtatious voice compliments the brash lyrics. "Speed on the Beat"

Over a beat that sounds like it stepped out of a late 90s/early 2000s Memphis time warp that ended up in Baltimore somehow, Baby Kahlo gives us a methodical flow and things to think about, such as copycats (who seemingly "multiply," as the title suggests) and her cash flow (which is also multiplying). It's a different vibe from "Trance," and it admittedly took me a few listens to decide whether I'd post on the site. However, I kept coming back due to the Trees and Beats instrumental and Kahlo's flow. It's decisively old-school, but new enough in its subject matter and approach that it doesn't feel like it's just completely aping anyone's style. Check it out below and remember to support dope music in all its forms. -

Kahlo shocks the world yet again with her fearless and firery lyrics. She teases us with her playful and flirtatious sound. Her voice in this track however, is stronger than ever. This new sound matches the message of the song to a T as Kahloopens up about the many struggles of being a female rap artist. She talks other women who attempt to mock and steal her style and business tactics in hopes of spitefully surpassing her. Lyrics like “…you cant beat me, quit that lying. Kahlo haters join alliance.” shows her determination and strength as she refuses to give up her spot and let another person “take her crown”. Baby Kahlo releases anticipated “Trance” visuals
Baby Kahlo is Baltimore’s unsung talent. I get to a point in my opinion where I have to start asking myself about the talent and ambitions of an artist. If we’re being frank, she demands her respect as a rapper, period; not categorization of gender.

Kahlo also has her collective, Kahlo’s Collective, which empowers women in her community. On Jan. 24, Baby Kahlo released her music video for “Trance,” a music video brought to us by the 4K Brand. The song is produced by Tokyo Tendo and Micheal Taylor.

"Speed on the Beat"

Baltimore meets NYC in the New York-filmed visuals to Baby Kahlo's "Trance," an aptly trippy visual for Kahlo's latest track. The brief look into the mystical powers of Kahlo's game (sex and otherwise) kept me intrigued enough to catch this artist's unique approach to a partystarter. This is especially seen through the choice of production from Tokyo Tendo. Now, the song itself is not straight turn-up like, say, a "Bartier Cardi" type of track. However, it's not straight-up Rapsody bars on top of bars, either. Kahlo found a happy middle ground and it's where the Baltimore native thrives. Check out "Trance" below and remember to support dope music in all its forms. -

"Bluntiq"

Baby Kahlo is one of Baltimore’s rising rappers and she’s showing out on her new “Gummo” freestyle, produced by Pierre Bourne.

“Only female rapper that these niggas will mention. I’m the only female rapper so you bitches be fishin’,” she raps in the track, early on. Kahlo finds a pocket that works for her, as she did on her “Down 2 Go” single that was released earlier this year. We can expect to hear much more from Kahlo as we move into 2018.

Bio

Baby Kahlo, also known as Kahlo Muerto, is one of Baltimore’s rising, female rappers.  Inspired by the style and art of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, she commands attention from everyone anytime she enters a room with her 40-inch blonde hair, choker necklace, and glam goth attire - all a part of her “spooky demon” aesthetic.  Growing up, Kahlo was not allowed to listen to much Hip Hop and R&B by her Christian mother.  However, her father was a well-known DJ in the Baltimore area in the 90’s. Kahlo would see him on the weekends, and he would insist on teaching her the history of Hip Hop and Soul music.  From there, her love for the music began and she could not go a day without listening.  She would listen to her favorite songs and rap along as if she was filming the video herself.  Her own music is inspired by the likes of both 2Pac and Willow Smith.  It’s sharp, but playful with her flirtatious, yet fiery, lyrics. Kahlo released her debut single, “Kahlo’s Freestyle,” in February of 2017.  Since then, she has gone on to perform in a number of shows in Baltimore and the DMV as well as release her well-received video for her single “Trance.”  Most recently, she was a part of Bali Baby’s PlayGirl World Tour.
