INTRODUCING .
The Soulful Montre Davis
Born on May 23, 1975 in Louisville, Kentucky, Montre Davis was destined for
music greatness. Having both parents with singing abilities, Montre had no choice but to
have a divine, God-given gift. As an infant, his mother sang Billie Holliday songs to
him; and as a young boy, his father sang Sam Cooke songs to him. Montre was shy and
would quietly sing around the house all day. One day his father told him he needed to
sing so people could hear his voice. So he began to sing louder. He became the first 9th
grader in Seneca High Schools advanced choir. Shortly thereafter, he went on to
become a member of the Kentucky All-State Choir. They performed at the Kentucky Center
for The Arts with some of the best singers in Kentucky. For several years, he sang with
an R & B quartet called Uncut (formerly known as Something Unique). The group never
made it to stardom, but Montre kept on singing.
He had a brief setback, then returned with the desire in his heart and the perseverance
to continue his dreams of becoming a great singer and songwriter. His love for God and
R & B/ Soul caused him to write secular and gospel songs unparalleled by anyone else.
Among his greatest inspirations were: the late, great Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, David Ruffin,
The Temptations, Aretha Franklin, Luther Vandross, Babyface, Linda Jones, Etta James and
many, many more. The list is endless.
Montre has performed in Lebanon and Louisville in Kentucky, Indiana, Mississippi and
Cleveland, Ohio. He has performed in several clubs with the Mr. Wonderful Band and the
Chittlin Circuit Review.
