"Fader"

Why is Neon Gold so rad? They are like sophisticated Santa Clauses, reading our minds, predicting our wishes, and/or wiretapping our musical want-lists and then either signing that shit to their label or just putting it on their blog and writing something clever and sweet about it. This Wolf Gang track is a commissioned remix by Baby Monster, who make their synthy meditations from the not-so-auspicious wilds of Eugene, Oregon, a town more renowned for its kush than its crates. But then, maybe it’s the dreamy weather and semi-close proximity to the sea that lets them tease out “Pieces of You”—an initially jaunty, angsty, soulful rock track—and reimagines Wolf Gang on a boat en route to an open-air, oscillating kind of heaven, great whales breaching majestically all around. So beautiful! If you’re in London you are in luck because homeboy is playing an intimate show with his quirky labelmate Marina & the Diamonds this week

"Neon Gold"

The first of the remixes we've commissioned have begun to trickle in as well, and the highlight thus far is no doubt the amazing rework from left coast up and comers Baby Monster. Laying down a churning bassline and dressing up the track in all manner of atmospheric flourishes, they inject the mix with a newfound electricity and maximize the original's already rife dancefloor potential, and the mix is just another reason to keep an eye on Baby Monster in the months to come. More on the promising US duo soon, but for now feast on their debut remix below. - http://neongoldrecords.blogspot.com/

Bio

More likely to cite stately brit-rock paragons The Kinks and Blur as their inspirations than LCD Soundsystem or MGMT, west coast duo Baby Monster are part of the new breed of D.I.Y. electronic pop groups sprouting up from bedroom studios around the country. The sound is massive and ambient with an underlying nostalgia, and enough pop to propel the songs away from obscurity . The group has been gaining a steady online following since the posting of their Clockwork Orange titled track "Ultraviolence and Beethoven". At times ambient and transcendental, the song will cheer up the most depressed of those suffering from the "winter blues", and it is slated for single-release on UK tastemaker label 50 Bones later this year. Baby Monster could easily fit in the sun-drenched festival season, maybe somewhere in between the Knife and Animal Collective.
