Bio

Boston's Baby Strange combines the energy and ideals of their combined influences to create a sound described as "white hot rock n roll." The band channels this by taking their cues from such legends as the Rolling Stones, David Bowie and U2. Baby Strange puts genuine feeling and soul into their songwriting and performance.

Baby Strange formed in 1999 while searching through the Boston music scene for a worthwhile endeavor. Finally meeting through friends and auditions, the band immediately began working on original material. “The songs are about things people can relate to: sex, heartbreak, feeling alone, feeling overwhelmed,” says singer and primary songwriter Eric Deneen. “It's never cliché because we really feel it." Baby Strange also includes Kristoffer Ehrig (Guitar, Vocals), Ryan Ennis (Drums), Jason Horvath (Bass Guitar), and Hugh Wyman (Lead Guitar).

Since their first show in February of 2000, Baby Strange has built a reputation as one of the best live bands in Boston and beyond. Described as "a thunderstorm or a volcano, flashing black and red, crashing one moment and blazing the next," the band's live show and a growing fan base has led to opening slots with such national acts as Cinerama, Radio 4, The Vines, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and the Mooney Suzuki. Baby Strange also plays regularly in New York City and has embarked on a tour of the Midwest.

In January of 2001, Baby Strange released its first CD, entitled Action. It earned the band plays and appearances on Boston radio stations WBCN, WFNX and WERS, the largest college radio station in the country. Action also charted on Wellesley College radio WZLY, which led to a listing in the influential trade publication CMJ.

September 2002 sees the release of the band's new EP, The Make-Out Sessions. The five songs were recorded at Q Division Studios in Sommerville, MA with producer Brian Brown, who has worked with Juliana Hatfield and Buffalo Tom singer Bill Janovitz. Each track showcases the band's growing maturity as songwriters and performers. From the straight-ahead rock n roll of "If I Didn't Know Better" to the Smiths-influenced "Why Didn't You Fall" and the unstoppable energy of "Hotel Motel," The Make-Out Sessions is the best representation of Baby Strange's talent on record to date.

Baby Strange is goning in to the studio mid September to record a full length record. Look for it soon!
