"Bad Blond Breaks Loose with Caffeine Daze"

“Their debut EP, Caffeine Daze, is a death punch of five hit songs. From the angsty first fling of “Begging for Disease” to the final frenzy of “Lemmon 714,” Bad Blonde won’t let you rest easy. Bad Blonde’s Caffeine Daze is a particularly strong and engaging initial offering from a promising new band, and it deserves the ears of any self-proclaimed rock fans.” - Richard Lyne

"Bad Blonde: Super Unknown"

“Purveying a kind of high-octane grunge, all buzzsaw barre chords, scratchy vocals, and bruising, propulsive beats, Bad Blonde [has become] a bona fide band…” - Anthony Mariani

"New Music from Bad Blonde Makes for Good Release"

“Bad Blonde’s aggressive alternative rock style defies conventional modern music styles, while reaching out to fans of alt-rock’s hey-day…” - D Grant Smith

"Lone Star Sounds"

“Bad Blonde doesn’t screw around on its aptly titled debut EP, Caffeine Daze. The go-for-broke opener, Begging for Disease, fits neatly with the band’s Nirvana-meets-Motorhead aesthetic, and the intensity only ratchets up from there…you’ll be totally giddy, pressing play again and counting Bad Blonde as one of your favorite new bands in North Texas.” - Preston Jones

"Bad Blonde RAWK"

“If L7 and Nirvana had a love child it would be Bad Blonde. As Tenacious D once said… “Warning! If you want your asses blown out stay in the room”. Seriously RAWK!” - Phil Russell

"Local Music"

"There’s nothing pretentious or precious about the trio’s straight-ahead aggressive grunge. This debut recording is packed with fuzzy riffage, screamed-sung vocals, and combative, propulsive beats that hark back to moody ’90s-era underground rawk..." - Eric Griffey

"Blonde Ambition"

"...When it dropped in June, Caffeine Daze received a lot of positive press and social media love. Before playing their first show with a new name, Bad Blonde was nominated for Best New Artist in the 2015 Fort Worth Weekly Music Awards.

While the EP is a great representation of the band’s sound, a live setting is where Bad Blonde shines. Huge Nirvana-esque riffs soar over a rumbling rhythm section, setting the backdrop for Owens’ whisper-to-a-howl vocals, with lyrics centered on the positive things in life..." - Jasun Lee

Bio

Called “ballsy guitar rock” by none other than Toadies frontman Vaden Todd Lewis, Fort Worth, TX-based band Bad Blonde has bared their teeth and are getting ready to seize the world after the June 6th release of their debut EP, Caffeine Daze.
Across five tracks of explosive, hard rock riffage, Bad Blonde snarl and attack like a trio of beer-slamming werewolves, pounding the pavement for the next rager. Engineered and steered by Grammy-nominated producer Chris “Frenchie” Smith (Ringo Deathstarr, Jet, …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead), Caffeine Daze injects punk hooks with high-octane rock ‘n’ roll swagger, like Bleach-era Nirvana mixed with a double-shot of Motörhead.
On why he worked with the band, Frenchie says, "Bad Blonde bring you back to a time when rock was king. I fell in love with the band's energy and youthful abandon. With songs like "Sex Tape" you can bang your head and stay up all night listening, thusly setting yourself up to tell your boss to f**k off in the morning!"
The three-piece formed one year ago when two long-time friends, vocalist/guitarist Dylan Owens and bassist Derek Harper met out-of-town transplant Mike Surdel, who plays drums. The three recorded Caffeine Daze over the course of a grueling four-day session at Smith’s Austin recording studio, The Bubble, recording 10 to 12 hours a day.
The inspiration behind the lyrical content of Caffeine Daze came from what Owens called his and co-songwriter Harper’s frustration with the younger generations’ willingness to accept life’s path of least resistance –– an entire generation, he said, that would rather lurch through life like zombies instead of seeking artistic and intellectual challenges.
“A lot of people I know hate their jobs and are unhappy with the direction their lives are going, but they’re so afraid of the unknown and won’t make a change,” he said. “We just wanted to encourage people that it is OK to defy society’s expectation and live your life the way you want. Happiness should prevail.”
Bad Blonde unleashed Caffeine Daze on CD and digital download June 6, 2015 to great local acclaim, at Lola’s Saloon in Fort Worth. Combined with Bad Blonde’s energetic, full-throttle live show, Caffeine Daze is primed to set the band on a path to hard rock greatness.
