“Having heard this band I was in awe of what they could do,” said Sammi Barber, president of the Shasta Blues Society. “Talk about a variation of musical renditions and talent. Since this is our 15th “Blues by the River” Festival, why not give them a shot. Besides, I like going out on the limb tracking down new talent and there is certainly plenty of musical talent in this band. With all the singer/songwriters in this group and always coming up with new music I’m sure you will be delighted.
Bad Daddy is a newly formed band, but several members have been together since the sixties.
Bruce Marelich, lead guitar, singer/songwriter and Mark Lightcap, guitar, keyboard, singer/songwriter, have been playing together since 1965 in bands called Blue Fever, Time, JustUs, Mandela and Pendragon.
Cole Spohr, guitar & mandolin, singer/songwriter, started with Bad Daddy about three years ago when
they first started playing their new music. He took part in the first Pendragon Reunion. Cole has a strong baritone voice and a knack for a very powerful song delivery.
George Newcom, drums, joined the band this year. He played with the band “The Loading zone” in the Bay Area during the mid-sixties and played in cover bands since then herein the Redding area. George comes from a musical family. His father, “Sammy Newcom,” was the leader/accordion player in a swing band during the thirties.
Ray Fernandes, bass, another newcomer, is Mark Lightcap’s nephew and is into the music and the
Band.

Bio
Bruce Marelich and Mark Lightcap played together in the same band for 10 years back in the 60's & 70's. Pendragon rocked the San Francisco Bay Area music scene with original hits. After taking an extended break to marry their band groupie sweethearts and raise families, Bruce and Mark have picked up where they left off. Upon listening to Bad Daddy music many have described it as "fresh" and the logical extension of that great classic rock musical period tempered with today's more cutting-edge sound. Guitarist Cole Spohr blends his acoustic/blues style with classic rock and has brought some great tunes to the band. Cole is also a talented vocalist, blessed with a unique baritone set of pipes. Jerrad Benedict, the youngest member of Bad Daddy, plays bass in the band. Jerrad is what people often call, "a natural talent." He is an accomplished guitarist and songwriter in his own right.Vera Bridges plays fiddle and adds her smooth vocals to Bad Daddy's music. Her unique style ranges from bluesy to classical. Vinnie Carini plays the drums in Bad Daddy. He also brings his talented vocals to the group and loves to sing harmony with the other vocalists. He play guitar as well.
