Bio

BADHORSE is destined to become a powerhouse in Country Music.
Musical chemistry was obvious from the day Adam, Robert, Charlie, Mike, Chris and Joel first met. They subsequently joined forces to become BADHORSE and over the past several years collaborated to compose scores of songs, largely relating to their personal life experiences. Their most recent CD release “BADHORSE.” is testament to their talent and creativity. Their passion for music in high spirited stage performances, blending country rock with southern roll, has been enjoyed by thousands of country music fans in venues ranging from small local establishments to country music festivals, where they opened for nationally acclaimed artists such as Zac Brown Band, Randy Houser, Randy Travis, Trace Adkins, Jason Michael Carroll and Shenandoah, to name a few. BADHORSE powers up the show, so y’all fasten your seatbelts and hang on for the ride.

Adam Grant grew up in the small rural town of Shiloh, Georgia where his musical roots and talents were influenced by close family members. With a natural attraction to music, Adam began writing country songs and playing guitar before he was a teenager. Adam later became involved in martial arts and an avid sportsman, where he won multiple archery and gun tournament competitions. Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Travis Tritt and Hank Williams Jr. and Black Crowes were major influences in developing Adam’s own contemporary country infused, southern rock vocal style.

Robert E. was raised with his feet planted in two different worlds. He spent part of the year on a South Georgia farm roaming among cattle and soybean fields while living the rest of the year in Pittsburgh, PA where his dad played professional football. Robert was star bound in his own rite as a talented college football quarterback until his plans were dramatically changed when a career changing injury ended his football aspirations. Music subsequently became Robert’s healing solace as he immersed himself in songwriting and playing guitar. The rest is history as Robert has since found his true career path in music.

Charlie Gilbert (Lead Guitar) has been with the band since the beginning, becoming an intricate part of the sound which they together worked to create. He began playing at the age of 5 and grew up performing in church and with several local Contemporary Christian and Heavy Metal bands. Charlie is a completely self taught musician/teacher and music has been the one constant throughout his life. It takes but one show to realize that Charlie is not just your average country guitar player as he brings to the table a unique musicality blend which works perfectly to create the edge that can cross every genre and attract even the least likely country fans.

Chris Mathis (Drums and Percussion) is a self taught drummer/teacher. His background as a performer is based mainly with progressive heavy metal bands. Chris, however, became quickly acclimated to the band’s unique style of country. With his charisma, contagious smile and high level of professionalism, Chris is a perfect fit in this mix of talented musicians/performers.

Mike Deems (Bass Guitar/harmony vocals) brings a southern charm to the band. Mike is a self taught bassist who grew up playing traditional country and southern rock with his dad. One of his favorite musical influences has been the Eagles. As a respected and accomplished musician, Mike’s solid bass riffs keep the bands unique cross genre style well grounded.

Joel Bridges (Keyboards/Guitar/Vocals) is the most recent addition to the band. This multi-talented musician, whose background harmonies excentuate Adam's lead vocals, is a longtime friend of Robert E. going back to Robert's early days as a performer. Joel's command of music, along with his stage presence, brings an extra added punch to the Country/Southern Rock sound which is BADHORSE.
