Our Band is called The Badjohns.. an expression used to describe gangsters in Trinidad who developed the early steelband culture in the 1940s.
Our unique 5 piece band combines the inrtiguing sound of the "Trinidad and Tobago" steelpan with Caribbean musical styles such as Calypso, Soca, Parang, Reggae and Chutney as well as latin and jazz genres with a twist.
We feature three lead vocalists including Barry White sound alike "Kenny G" and we also have four steelpan players, including Lennox "Madman" Jordan, whose pan playing has been featured in Womadelaide and the Byron Bay Blues Festival in 2012.
Three members of the band were born and raised in Trinidad which adds to the authenticity of the music.
The Badjohns can also play acoustically and outdoors featuring just the steelpans. This setup includes the six bass pans (6 full size oil drums) to provide a meaty bass sound and amazing spectacle.
We also feature original music from APRA member and award winning song writer, Shaz Brown (finalist in the Musicoz instrumental category) and Lennox Jordan ( band leader and arranger of the 60 piece Fascinators Steelband in Trinidad).
