Bio

Paul Joseph Frappier, better known as "Bad News Brown" was born on May 8th 1977 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Orphan at birth, Bad News Brown is quickly adopted by a Montreal family and moves to Canada, where he is brought up. Eager to rediscover those sharing the same cultural roots, BNB, young and determined, leaves his home during his teenage years and is quickly exposed to all facets of street life and its cultural manifestations. BNB quickly discovers the harmonica as a new original voice for the masses generating unanimous reactions by all those listening.

As a proficient harmonica player, Bad News Brown developed new ways of playing and expressing himself via his instrument, generating new unexplored sounds, riffs and melodies. He incorporates multiple styles within his music such as blues, jazz, reggae, rock, hip-hop, trip hop, break beat, house and techno with a clear vision revolving around the renaissance of blues. His writing, compositions and performances have revealed the screaming sensitivity of his life experiences, main source of inspiration.

Popular street based artist, Bad News Brown's unique style (harmonica player, blues singer, rapper) and charismatic persona has made him a mandatory act, opening regularly for some of the most popular names in the industry (50 Cent, Aerosmith,The Eagles, Kanye West, John Legend, Nas, Lloyd Banks, De la Soul, Juelz Santana, Ciara, Mobb Deep, Young Buck, Lil Jon, The Game, Jadakiss, Bobby Valentino, Kevin Little, Talib Kweli, etc). He even performed live on stage at the Montreal Francofolies in 2003 with Hollywood actor / guitar player, Tchéky Karyo. Metros, nightclubs, bars, concert halls, universities, festivals have heard the sweet melodies of his precious metallic instrument and have enabled him to acquire a powerful stage presence.

In 2004, Bad News Brown established his own production house / label 'Round Da Clock' Entertainment to ensure himself that his authentic sound would go unaltered and that his vision and business endeavors would be implemented effectively. He quickly released a street DVD, compiling footage of himself on and off stage gathered over the last few years. (Sold 10,000 copies across Quebec).

Within the same year, Bad News released a single on a Universal Music France (ULM) Hip Hop / Rai music compilation featuring some of France's most popular Hip Hop artists (sold 50,000 units in France). Montreal's most popular rappers have also featured Bad News Brown on their respective albums
