"SOHH REVIEW"

Ok Bad News, let's see what massachusettes got....

"Bad News" Nice beat. You on ya lyrics! Did you really spell out BAD NEWs? The alliteration is crazy! You like a New England Chino XL mix with Eminem. Damn! I can't even get a coherent thought off this is lyrically devastating. I don't even know what you talking about! Are you using each letter from Bad News and flipping it? SOHH stand up this n!gga is crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 I'mma just stop. This is flames!

"Pain in my Life" Well saigon aint do nothing with it so lets see what you do. Hennessy and Haze is a bad combo. Listen to me... you are NAS on It Was Written on this beat. You are NAS on this beat. Wow. Sounds like Nas flow on "Street Dreams". WTF is going on in Mattapan, Massachusettes. You need to get to a bigger market so someone can develop you as an artist. Lyrically you are insane.

"Because I'm Real" Not the most original name but.... Who ever rapped first on this track is basically holding your spot because I want to hear you spit again. Ya rhyme pattern and lyrics are really interwoven well. The intricasies are crazy. Make that a solo when you drp the mixtape

"Its Whateva" Maybe you named it this because you know you the nicest in ya crew. beat is flames but once again I'm waiting for the chronie to finish so I can see what you do again. Still sound like Nas but only if Nas was hungry like a Katrina refugee. GODDAMN!

Overall, SOHH Bad News has the best lyrics I have heard from anyone I listened to on this page. Disagree? Check "Bad News" and see if it change ya mind. This n!gga got me bolding text and sh!t.....

"Newz' Maker: Mattapan MC trades in rap sheet for rap success"

Boston rap fans want the Badnewz first.

In the past year, the Mattapan MC’s brazen blacktop lyricism has garnered significant acclaim on the local rap scene. The buzz has already won the rookie significant accolades, including a Boston Hip-Hop Award for Mixtape of the Year, and numerous gigs - including one Wednesday night at Great Scott in Allston.

Despite intense demand for a follow-up to last year’s “Falling Down” mixtape and his upcoming collaboration with the GWOP Gang crew, Badnewz is cool, calm and humble. Before stepping into a sound booth for the first time two years ago, he was content with rhyming for sport.

“It was more like a hobby,” Badnewz recently said outside his Hyde Park studio. “If I was in my house and had nothing to do I would just write a rhyme and bring it to the corner later on.”

At the insistence of his closest friends, Badnewz began recording tracks. His circle dubbed itself Strezzed Out Entertainment, and took a unique approach to legitimizing its hustle.

“We did this because we were in the streets doing the bulls--- and getting locked up, especially Badnewz,” Strezzed Out CEO Kazz said by phone. “Our prerequisite was that everyone had to get a real job to make legal money if they wanted to roll with us.”

The challenge called for a major role reversal.

“It was rough when I was growing up,” Badnewz said. “There was a lot of gang violence and negativity going on, and when you’re staring out of your window and seeing that all day, you’re going to do one of two things: be turned off by it, or be a part of it.”

Badnewz chose the latter. He refuses to advertise his rap sheet, but assures that he’s the real deal.

“It shows when a lot of dudes who claim to gangbang are lying,” he said. “Anyone who’s ever really been around handguns knows that you don’t run around glorifying that. It’s one thing to tell your story, but if you’re promoting it you’ve obviously never been on the other end of one.”

Badnewz caught the attention of Southie rapper Slaine, who last year tapped the up-and-coming MC to contribute to the second installment of his internationally released “The White Man is the Devil” series.

“It was great to be co-signed by someone with that much exposure,” Badnewz said about Slaine. “I felt like I wouldn’t have been on that album if he didn’t think I was original. I explain things in a different way for intelligent people - I don’t write for Neanderthals and idiots. . .

“From my music, people can learn that running in the streets isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be,” Badnewz said. “You lose friends, mothers lose sons, and people go to jail for the rest of their lives. The name of the game is getting away from all of that." - Boston Herald

Badnewz
Falling Down
by Chris Faraone
Issue 8.49
Wed, December 06, 2006
In more than one way, you might have to hit the block to get this one, but it’s worth the risk. In terms of Boston’s street rappers, coke-talkers and gat-holders, Badnewz is next. Forget that his latest joint says “mixtape” on the cover; Falling Down is a complete album with biting production, forward-moving conceptualization and zero filler. True to his moniker, Badnewz broadcasts from the jungle, where shots fly, drugs kill and, as he so eloquently puts it, bitches lick his dick vein. “It’s Whatever,” produced by WMS the Sultan and featuring BR, displays Newz’s Darwinian instincts, while “Growing Pains” shows that he’s mortal enough to have a vulnerable side. For straight lyrics, the self-titled “B.A.D.N.E.W.S.” is acronymic pandemonium: “The ‘B’ stands for broke black babies bandaged with bandanas, biscuit busting, blowing black out of backwoods, bubbling base in big batches, bagging bundles of bills, bitches in Benzes, barrels banging and bullets buzzing.” So watch out for this dude—he’ll be the one “walking the block with a bop like John Travolta in Grease.” And for anyone who, for whatever reason, thinks that New York and L.A. rappers are the only ones licensed to bring it from the curb, turn on the tube or grab yo’self a broadsheet; they’re both full of this dude.

"Badnewz is Falling Down"

We gotta take a trip to the East Coast for a quick minute, to Boston, MA, to be exact. A young talent by the name of BadNewz is the reason for this trip, because I couldn't let ya'll sleep on this dude. In a time where bragging rights and flossing are raps main topics, BadNewz enters the game with some authentic Hip-Hop.

On his current mixtape "Falling Down: The Adventure Of An Ordinary Man At War With The Everyday World", BadNewz demonstrates his ability to tell stories, and touch on a wide rang of topics. Over both original and borrowed beats, BadNewz takes you on a journey through his mind. Reminiscent of the late great Big L, Bad Newz has the gift to portray very sharp images through his words, such as on the song "Black Child", or on "Cocaine", over Xzibit's classic "Papparazzi".

We have four tracks from the mixtape available for you to download and listen to. If you like what you hear, make sure to hit up BadNewz' official myspace page at myspace.com/sobadnewz, where you can also order the "Falling Down" mixtape $4,99. Listen to the songs below:

Bio

Badnewz a.k.a The Last MC grew up with what seems to be the typical black urban youth story. A soldier since a young age, Badnewz grew up in an unsettled household in which nobody would be envious. As an adolescent Badnewz was forced to make decisions men probably couldn't. For most people their home is their haven, but for Badnewz the streets fulfilled that necessity. He's endured the hoods of North Carolina, Virginia, D.C., and of course Boston and til this day he still feels more comfortable amongst the sirens, cracked pavement, night dwellers, and cognac stenches. He has done a lot of things he regrets, but through his music, family and friends he's become a most admirable man. There isn't a more loyal, humble, inspirational artist out there then this young man known as Badnewz.
From a music perspective Badnewz grew up listening to Kool G Rap, Nas, 2pac, and others. While listening to these artists as a youth he was amazed as they were able to put words together with such conviction and precision. Frustrated he couldn't do the same, he asked his mother, a poet in her own right, to help him out and she did so writing him a rap. Although he appreciated the effort, he describes the rhyme as "wack" but the format in which she wrote it gave him the blueprint to what he is now building. He has opened for Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks, Memphis Bleek, Tiera Marie, Cherish, Slaine and others while garnering the attention of Hip-hop followers, personnel, and artists and has been appointed The Last MC. Readers, reviewers, listeners, I introduce to you Badnewz.

Badnewz "Falling Down" Mixtape was recently awarded "Mixtape of The Year" at this year's M.I.C. Awards.
