Bad PR has a long term goal of cracking the top 10 loudest bands in the world, and it’s gotten them kicked out of more places than you. “After a while, you get used to it,” says Jamie, lead singer and guitarist. “When you make everything louder than everything else, most people have an upper limit”.

Between damaged eardrums, Bad PR is coming into their own creatively with the release of their new album Party Favours, recorded at The Farm studios in Gibsons BC.

The band was formed in Vancouver in 2012 over a great idea and a mediocre breakfast. Jeff, Kurt and Jamie were all deeply unsatisfied with their current musical situation and happened to convene at the right place in the right office cafeteria line. Ryder joined about a month later to round out the band’s sound through the right amount of chunky riffage.

The quick realization that Kurt’s garage was not soundproof led to the first noise complaint and venue change — a real jam space with real volume potential. Jeff and Kurt immediately clicked as a powerful and funky rhythm section, and Jamie’s silky smooth leads layered on top.

“We have 2 diehard 80’s metal guys, one 90s heavy sludge riffmaster” says Jamie, “and this other guy who only cares about pop music and making us sound catchy. It makes for a unique creative process.”

Receiving Facebook comments like “this is awesome”, “dank”, and “fuck ya bud”, BadPR clearly has the attention of the masses.

The band is looking to break out of the Vancouver grind and start playing with more big-name acts. Setting their sights on a Western Canada tour in the next year, and releasing a quick follow up album to build on their evolving sound.
