Bio

BAERTUR is a one man band from Bergen, Norway.
In addition to having 280 rainy days a year, plus a town market that smells like fish (in a bad way), Bergen also has a pretty nice music scene. Acts like Röyksopp, Kings Of Convenience, Annie, Casiokids and Datarock have all developed out of this scene
Being a co-founder and current associated member of Datarock, as well as a sometime Annie, Ungdomskulen and Bjørn Torske collaborator, Ketil Mosnes has been part of the Bergen scene for a while now. Mosnes toured intensely with Datarock for many years, eventually he started focusing on making music back home instead. The result of this home based musical experimentation is – among other things - BAERTUR.
Baertur has currently released two albums on Datarock's label YAP Records; Baertur 1 (2010) and KYSTVERK (2012)
A third album, called 'Are We Experienced' will be out on YAP in January 2014. This is a more 'poppy', vocal-based album, with contributions from Bjørn Torske and K-X-P, among others.

Baertur has enjoyed a growing interest back home in Norway, where the music has been played on state radio as well as being featured different television shows. He has also played all the major festivals in his native country. In addition to that, Baertur has played venues such as Santo's Party House (NYC), Echo and Hemingway's Lounge (LA), Mezzanine and Bottom of the hill (San Francisco), Double Door (Chicago), Glass House (Pomona), The Garage (London), Festsaal Kreutzberg (Berlin) and Tavastia (Helsinki), to mention some.

The live line-up consists of Mosnes himself on bass, Knut Andreas Knutsen (from Syntax TerrOrkester) on guitar/vocals, Øyvind Solheim (from Ungdomskulen) on drums and Kjetil Møster (jazz saxophonist who has played with Chick Corea and Pat Metheny as well as Norwegian acts such as Datarock. Møster won the International Jazz Festivals Organization and International Association For Jazz Education International Jazz Talent Awards in New York in 2006) on saxophone and keyboards.
