"Nooner Review"

The palm trees on the front cover of the album says it all. Bag Of Toys displays a chilled out, laid back sound on their debut album, showcasing the simple nature of acoustic groove, transporting you right to the beach. You can envision yourself listening to each song sitting around a campfire on the beach, with all your friends singing along. Of course with song titles like 'Surf Song', 'California', and 'Last Wave' the band does a lot of stage-setting for you. The best track on the entire album is a little ditty called 'More Sex Than Me' which is fun and funky. Songwriter Robert Tait shows us the hidden talents that the unknown and unsigned bands of the world have to offer. He is surely a natural, and is sure to continue to write great chill tunes for a long time to come. My advise is to grab yourself a cold tropical drink, maybe a ice cold beer, and a hammock. Throw this CD on and just relax to its laid back music. You will be transported away from your everyday life, with little desire to come back at all.

"Buzz - CD Reviews"

Anything that takes me away from the routine of daily life, like say, a quick game of ping pong, a bite of a Twix bar or a successful deuce in the boys' room is fine by me and Bag of Toys' first full-length offering is a quick getaway. With songs titles like, "Surf Song," "More Sex Than Me," and "Last Wave," Nooner is acoustic surf rock made for flip-flops, a cold Corona and sandy burgers, (hamburgers you pervert).

There will always be obvious comparisons to Jack Johnson; since this is acoustic music drenched in the sweat of coastal life. But the underlying carefree reggae vibe and lyrical content set them apart. Lead singer Robert Tait sounds a bit like vocalist Dicky Barrett of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones fronting Jack Johnson's band on a serious pot high. Sounds nice, huh?

Bio

Bag of Toys is a quartet creating the best acoustic surf rock in Northern California. Beginning with a few appearances at a small open-mic showcase, the group has quickly risen up the venue circuit of San Francisco and has since continued to entertain the masses in the Bay Area at venues such as The Independent and Slim's while providing opening act support for groups such as Fishbone and The Expendables. In less than one year from its early 2006 release, Nooner, the 12-song debut CD from Bag of Toys has been sold in all 50 states as well as over 15 other countries while propelling them to the top of the rankings for unsigned acoustic artists on the ever-popular <http://myspace.com/>myspace.com. In 2007, "Share", one of the band's original songs from Nooner, was prominently featured on a national television commercial for the Microsoft Zune. Building on this upward momentum, the band will continue to spread their sound through exciting live performances and the creation of more original music that will give you that feeling you get right after you sneeze.

The foundation of Bag of Toys started when Robert Tait began writing songs at the age of 14. The Pacific Ocean lured Robert out to San Francisco and, in 2003, he found support in the melodic guitar playing of Steve Cowgill. Seeking to fill out the sound, the duo perused the internet for a rhythm section and, after too many strange audition experiences, finally found a perfect fit with Joe Schewe holding a bass and Robert Stadler behind a drum set . The quartet then spent the early part of 2004 in Robert Tait's apartment molding his creations into the infectious sound that has become Bag of Toys.
