Bio

The Ensemble.
Bäitoník Configuration is a unique music proposal.
They do not write songs using small variations of the same cast in the hope one of them will become a radio hit. They are not a spin-off of some best-selling rock band. On the contrary, they perform non-conventional handcrafted pieces and have an impossible-to-replicate dynamical personality on stage.
They embody the concept of postmodern/avant-garde music: Musical minimalism, a range of simple and complex textures meet atonal and consonant harmonies.
They have deconstructed the concept of a 'Rock Band': no member has defined role as instrumentalist within the ensemble.
They challenge the audience with truly unpredictable and complex music.
Bäitoník Configuration is indeed a unique music proposal.

In 2007, the chilean neuroscientist and musician FJ-Parada started writing 'Lied Notturna', a two-movement piece that nowadays spans over 90 minutes.
In 2010 Bäitoník Configuration emerged from the non-linear interaction of developmental psychologists Viridiana Benitez and Lisa Cantrell, and the musicians Steve Harms and Ricky Peden. The second movement of 'Lied Notturna' was their opening act.

The Music.
Currently, Bäitoník Configuration performs three pieces in a ~90 minute repertoire.

1. Utterances of Emergence During Daytime.
This piece was written in 2010 by FJ-Parada, and is the first statement of a three-movement piece that will be probably called "Mortalitatis" that describes three perspectives that humanity held about mortality. "Utterances of Emergence During Daytime" was inspired by the myths of the Egyptian Old and New Kingdom traditions.

2. Second Movement of Lied Notturna.
'Lied Notturna' is "a drama of other times" as FJ-Parada says. It tells the story of simple people that dedicate their lives to greater purpose, and how the greater purpose turns them into much more than simple women & men.

3. I.S. (Inscripción Sepulcral)
This piece was written in 2008 by FJ-Parada, and is the second statement of a three-movement piece that will be probably called "Mortalitatis" that describes three perspectives that humanity held about mortality. "I.S." was inspired by the myths of the Jewish and Christian traditions.
