Bio
Balls Deluxe, born Cristobal Deleuze, emigrated to Canada at 13 years of age from a small village in the Pyrenees following the tragic death by motorcrash of his natural parents. In Canada, he lived under the guardianship of relatives who severely rationed him and habitually beat him with wooden spoons, leather belts and a rusty coat-hanger.
At the age of 25, by virtue of his natural talent and breathtaking good looks, Balls had established himself as a juggernaut of the Canadian sub-underground music scene. With hits like, "I Shit You Not" and "I'll Be There (With Balls On)", Balls left an indelible mark on the psyche of his audiences who would enthusiasticallly beat their breasts in approval as Balls singlehandedly piloted their transports of delight.
But seriously... Paul Jago was formerly the lead singer of the Juno nominated gandharvas. The gandharvas released three records with Watch Music and MCA Canada. Their third record was released internationally on MCA America. The gandharvas released over six singles to radio during the 1990’s. Their video for ‘The First Day of Spring’ was a popular request on MuchMusic throughout 1995. In the same year, the band was nominated for a Juno award for Best New Artist. In 1998, the band had another successful single ‘Downtime’. Altogether, approximately 90,000 copies of the three gandharvas records were sold in Canada and the U.S. They toured extensively for nearly ten years as a headliner in Canada, and as a supporting act in the U.S. for such bands as Creed and Fuel. The band was involved in many festivals including: Enit fest, Summersault, and Edgefest.
