Bio

Bana Mutibwa, commonly known as The Lugaflow
Revolutionary Human Rights Activist, was born in 1989 in
the slum suburbs of Kampala, the capital city of Uganda.
He makes political rap in the Luganda language (Lugaflow).

Mutibwa’s Lugaflow music is jam-packed with
unconventional rhymes that advocate for social and political
change in Uganda, such as democracy, human rights, freedom,
and calls for peaceful resistance towards the ruling powers.
His music represents a generation of younger Ugandan
youths like him that have never known no other president
than the ruling Museveni, who has been in power for over 30
years.

The idea behind Bana Mutibwa’s revolutionary music, he
says, is to make music that will awaken young Ugandans to
demand for involvement and change, in a country where the
government suppresses free speech and oppositions.

His music has been shared by the top political opposition
leader in Uganda: Kizza Besigye, who is also known as the
people’s president, and other policy makers such as members
of parliament and prominent Ugandan citizens.

In 2011, he was awarded the Music and Entertainment Young
Achievers Award, for his role in community involvement
using music and arts. He is the founder of Lugaflow Army, a
rap group listed on cnn’s list of Uganda’s top rappers. Bana
Mutibwa is also co-founder of End of the Weak Uganda
chapter. In 2014, he spearheaded the organisation of End of
the Weak International world finals in Uganda that attracted
over 20 artists from around the globe.

Bana Mutibwa has among others performed in Uganda,
Kenya, Tanzania, Germany, France, Denmark, and Czech
Republic. He has opened up for artists such as Emmanuel Jal,
Mzungu Kichaa and shared the stage with other world-
renown Hip Hop artists like Kendrick lamar, Dela Soul, Big
Daddy Kane, Prago Union among others.

Bana Mutibwa is currently based in Denmark,
working on an album entitled “Soldier of the Year”.
