"Banana Seat: Party Primed"

Durkin and Ghostdad’s first collaboration as Banana Seat may cause Clinton-era flashbacks. The three-track EP is steeped in ’90s dance influences—the kind of amped-up, Jock Jams-ish house/rave music that Michael Jordan’s Bulls used to hit the court to. Having collaborated on a remix of Major Lazer’s “Pon de Floor” in 2009, the duo, well known to Boston audiences, formed Banana Seat as an excuse to try their hand at recreating the ’90s dance aesthetic, which they do with a natural ease.

The title track rumbles off the starting blocks riding a clean breakbeat, while “Champipple” is quick on its feet, pushing thick, pulsing bass behind an up-tempo electronic beat. “Banana Theme” may be the best representation of their style. Weaving between Baile funk and sharp synth stabs, it’s spontaneous, appropriate theme music for a group comfortable juggling several genres at once. - Dig Publishing

Bio

Banana Seat is a dance music machine powered by DJ and producer Durkin and audio-visual wunderkind Ghostdad.

Their production reflects the duo’s rapid-fire DJ sets: a combination of future bass rhythms with 90's hip-hop, dancehall and rave sounds.

Durkin and Ghostdad got their start as club DJs in Boston. They created Banana Seat as an outlet to release music inspired by their shared love of 90's underground dance music.

Their production caught the ear of producer XXXChange who offered to release their debut EP, "Drop It In," on his Fully Fitted label. The release was preceded by mixtape called the "Banana Tape."

Banana Seat's live DJ sets combine the group's original material, remixes and edits to create a nonstop, cheeky party vibe combining classic house and rave tunes, tropical bass, electro, moombahton, dancehall and hip-hop.
