Band-Limited was formed as a "surprise" act for the ViaSat Company Holiday Party. The idea was for people to see the guys they work with in a different light, and to provide some free entertainment. It worked! We have continued to improve and play at company events since. We all played in rock bands in our youth and we really enjoy playing and performing together. We focus on songs that are recognizable and good to dance to - mostly classic rock songs with a good beat. Four of us work at a satellite communications company, and one is a high-school technology teacher.
We chose our name as a technology pun. "Band-Limited" is the term for a satellite communications channel that is fully loaded. Also, as a tribute to Andrew's English origins, we used the term "Limited" as a reference to British corporation nomenclature.
On our logo, the symbol between "Band" and "Limited" is the engineering sign for a low-pass filter, indicating a band-limited signal.
