Band of a Thousand

Band of a Thousand is an exercise in alternative/experimental worship. Currently comprised of Aimee and Eric Perry, the BOAT concept was born in 2003 with the vision of creating an event that would utilize live music and media as a means to worship God, stimulate the senses, provide an avenue for the Holy Sprit to move, and invite others to worship.

Inspired by the innovation and passion of such artists as Imogen Heap, Tori Amos, Evanescence, Sarah MacLauchlan, and Bjork, Aimee and Eric began writing music for their latest album “Deep unto Deep”, in the spring of 2004. Amidst working crappy jobs, buying a house, and having a brand new baby girl that year, the two began building a modest studio in their new home to record their ideas. Being new to this side of the music business, a huge learning curve lay ahead, including researching what kind of gear to buy, painting lots of houses to pay for it, learning different recording techniques and computer software, learning how to use cool samplers and synth modules, how to write string arrangements, how to mix and not have it sound like you recorded everything in the backroom of your house, how to con your friends into playing on your music for free--basically all of the stuff that goes into recording and mixing your own album!!!

Two years and a zillion headaches later, the record was complete. At about this time, the group felt prompted to pack up and move to Nashville TN to embark on the next phase of the BOAT concept, which involves preparing film and visual media for live events, promoting “DEEP UNTO DEEP”, and seeking the Lord’s guidance for the future.

Eric and Aimee have been playing together for over six years and have grown in a style and artistry that is unique to their gifts. Their passion and understanding of the love of God is what they hope to impart to those that listen. To encourage, comfort and restore is the message of not only their latest album but of their heart as well.
