Bio
The first register retraces to 1981, when then the King Fisher' s Band was invited by the Portuguese label Vadeca to record its originals in Portuguese, the single “Roda” under the name of Bando do Rei Pescador.
In 1988 Orlando Mesquita makes an incursion in pop music, as songwriter and lead singer, with the band Café Lusitano witch recorded an LP for the label Polygram.
By the year 1994, Orlando chooses definitely to return to its musical origins, witch he always identified himself with, and in the company of Bando do Rei Pescador goes on recording “Confraria das Almas” for the label Numérica.
In 2000 after several changes in the musicians line-up, “Floresta Imensa” is recorded in the Penguin Studios, a record that would assume more of the Portuguese Folk roots of the Bando.
The most recent work was recorded in the summer of 2007 and sees the light of day in January 2008, it’s called “Planeta Agreste”, recorded in “Mãos-à-Obra” home studio of The Bando, it presents a more mature sound based on ballads and Portuguese folk music.
