Lyrics

Goodbye New York City

Written By: Dan Keck

It's cold on Mississippi and I can't find a ride. The buicks and hudsons keep passing me by. The same set of people on a different day. Can you point me to 40 so I can get on my way? Home is San Fransisco but I've never been there, I hear they need laborers and jazz is in the air. I've got friends in the suburbs and girls I've yet to meet. The sky is blue and the road is ahead

So goodbye New York City I'm heading west
A day in Pennsylvania so I can catch my breath
Chicago I love your wind in my hair
But I'm heading west and won't stop til I'm there

I follow Dean like he is the Christ
Don't have possessions just a yearning to write
"Dean," you may ask, "Why'd you leave it behind?" Well I just want to experience life

Oh the Mississippi the raw American heart
Onward to the rangelands the west will start
In Denver it's beautiful but it won't quench my thirst for that salty pacific air!

I don't know where I'll be tomorrow
I just don't know
Maybe L.A. or Albuquerque but baby you know where my heart is!

So goodbye New York City I'm heading west
A day in Pennsylvania so I can catch my breath
Chicago I love your wind in my hair
But I'm heading west and won't stop til I'm there

Oh the Mississippi the raw American heart
Onward to the rangelands the west will start
In Denver it's beautiful but it won't quench my thirst for that salty pacific air!

Salt Lake City is nice but I still fell the pull
And Reno is big it's big but it's small
And Sacramento is over the pass
San Fransisco I'm here at last

Heartbreak

Written By: Dan Keck

It's so heartbreaking when you fall
And you're tumbling through the air
And you masterfully create the girl you call your beautiful mistake
Take the phone from your pocket and cast it to the see
Take the pictures from your wallet and fuel the fire that burns beautifully
In blue and red and yellow and orange
Stimulating strengh and courage
Through the flames that heat and melt the images comes death

But there is life though you don't know it yet
There is still love you've yet to discover it

When the memories have faded
cuz the cues have been erased
Watch out for the places you frequented like Chinese, Meg Ryan movies and Friday nights
Take the next flight to Holland, France or Italy
Take you best friend since high school and sour across the big blue sea

At Forty-thousand in the sky is the place to clear your mind
Though the pain remains inside you carry on and find

There is still life though you don't know it yet
There is still love you've yet to discover it
And if you try to make today the best than you will find this life isn't over yet

I don't know what the future holds
Don't look back don't ever look back

There is still life though you don't know it yet
There is still love you've yet to discover it
And if you try to make today the best than you will find this life isn't over yet
