BARABBAS

Born in 1982 Hubertus Crain “BARABBAS” comes from the small but famous music country, Austria. He traveled for many years and experimented with many different musical styles but it was not until he moved to Edinburgh (Scotland) that he discovered his true passion for electronic music, shortly after BARABBAS was born and this is where his story begins. His music is characterized by multifaceted electro and break beats. BARABBAS is known for his original bass lines but yet harmonic melodies. It is remarkable to learn that his melodies originate on the piano and he later on converts them into electro tunes using primarily computer internal tools.

His life has always revolved around music, coming from a strong musical background he started studying music at a very young age. Regensburger Domspatzen music school gave him the chance to build a solid classical foundation; he focused his studies mainly on piano and vocal training. Later on as he grew in age and curiosity he combined his musical knowledge and experiences (classical ensembles, rock groups etc) to create his unique electro sounds. Artists such as Trentemoller, Booka Shade, Richie Hawtin, Mylo and many others did not only influence his style but thought him to experiment.

Whilst archiving his bachelor in Arts of Marketing he simultaneously participated in a top 10 worldwide Internet contest and was selected second out of over eight thousand participants. Over time he has entered various contests and has never failed to be amongst the top 10. After many successful DJ performances (e.g. Sole DJ for a privat Red Bull Event) he decided to pursue his dream and successfully completed an electronic music course in Vienna. This was the start to a wide variety of works, from producing a track for the Deutsche Guggenheim, to creating a DJ set for the Oktoberfest in Harvard Square, Boston.

Currently “BARABBAS” is working for the electronic music label Sonar Kollectiv to get a backdoor idea of the industry. Living in Berlin he is fully integrated in the music scene. Producing though is his real passion and after years of gathering ideas and perfecting his style he has now achieved the confidence to create a variety of new material, which will soon be available.
