Bio

BARAHUNDA is a project of broad musical spectrum that was born in Madrid in 1998. The idea of singer (HELENA DE ALFONSO) and current guitarist (JOSE LARA GRUEIRO), was to create a band of folk singing, bringing the traditional music of the Iberian Peninsula and the songs of the Three Cultures at general audience in a Spain in which, at that time, almost every group played mostly instrumental Celtic folk.

From 1999 BARAHUNDA starts playing on the stages of Madrid and later Spain and Portugal.

In 2002 was published "AL SOL DE LA HIERBA," his first CD distributed by "Galileo MC-Sonifolk" and was well received by the public and the press. Songs like " MALDITO SEI AL MARE" sounded in many programs of specialized radios.

Participate with some of the best artists in some compilation albums like " BAGOAS NEGRAS" in support of the victims of the oil spill caused by the sinking of the "Prestige".

In 2006 was born his second cd "UNA HORA EN LA VENTANA" edited by "Musikarte" more minimalist than the first album to approach the sound of the live band at the time.

BARAHUNDA has had different musicians and collaborators but always with Helena de Alfonso front and with the compositions and arrangements of  Jose Lara Grueiro and Helena herself. Since the recording of "UNA HORA EN  LA VENTANA" the team has remained unchanged.

Currently the core of  BARAHUNDA (Helena and Jose) has moved to live in Galicia where they are in the process of recording a new album and acting part in the cultural life of the area. His new job will mainly atlantic spirit.
