BandHip Hop

Barak Yalad is signed to Rawkus Records. He released his first album, A Loss For Words, in November 2007. Barak has gained praise for his innovative wordplay, his socially and politically conscious lyrics, and his raw and aggressive style and stage presence.

Barak Yalad has been in the hip-hop game for 18 years. He grew up in the rough Boston neighborhood of Roxbury, and later in Springfield, MA, where he met the hip-hop producers of Kemistry, who are themselves affiliated with the Justice League producers.

Barak honed his hip-hop style under the influence of great 80s and 90s hip-hop acts such as Brand Nubian, Grand Puba, Public Enemy, and Black Star. After gaining a wide following in western Massachusetts, Barak moved to Brooklyn, NYC in order to bring his music to wider audience and get even closer to the roots of the hip-hop scene. After opening for KRS-One during the 2007 CMJ Music Festival, Barak has already started gain a strong following in New York. And with the release of his first full-length album, A Loss For Words (Rawkus Records), that following will only get bigger.
