Biography

Barbarella: Modern Times Rock ‘n’ Roll!

Nasty, hard, honest. Four men from Nijmegen. The song always in sight. No bullshit: Modern Times Rock 'n' Roll.
Barbarella originated in 2005.

In October 2012 Dutch rock band Barbarella released their new album ‘Quid Pro Quo’. This album is the successor of the internationally well-received debut EP 'Neon City', which was released in 2008.
'Quid Pro Quo' shows a rather new Barbarella. The band left the stoner rock genre, however Rock continues to define the sound of Barbarella. Musically the band sits between Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Triggerfinger and Smashing Pumpkins. Grooving riffs, hard (punk) rock, and a touch of psychedelia wrapped in catchy song structures.

The album was recorded and mixed in 2011 and 2012 in the BigMouth Music studio in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. In the years between the release of 'Neon City' and 'Quid Pro Quo' Barbarella played a lot of shows. Some of which at famous festivals such as Zwarte Cross, Appelpop, de Affaire, Popronde and Paaspop. They were also asked to support, Fu Manchu, Peter Pan Speedrock and Truckfighters. Between gigs there were new songs written. So now, with 'Quid Pro Quo' released, Barbarella is ready for a new round of the Dutch and international venues and festivals.
