Bio
Formed in 1998 as a rock trio, the Barbary Merchants sound from this time could best be descibed as "Rolling Zeppelin" and "Celto-Bop". The band completed recording an album's worth of songs in 2001, but 'events on the ground' prevented it's release. The band is now rounded out to five and has added a bit of Sea Shanty, Country (Traditional style, thank you very much), Straight ahead jazz, Eastern Kentucky Mountain Music and even sneaked a few Tangos (complete with dancing) into the live set. However, the band never forgets to rock! Their new album "Song Thieves" is currently wrapping up and is set for release this summer.
