Barba Shassus hails from the great town of Snohomish, WA, a town known for its abundance of antique shops an hour north of Seattle. The band consists of five members with each of them playing instruments varying from guitars, banjo, bass, slide guitar, organ, piano and drums. With a wide array of instruments, 'Barba' also shows more diversity with reoccuring four part harmonies. In 2008, they recorded an EP by the name of "Angelus" as a start for the new project. They are now in the process of recording a new album with songwriting from all the members to bring more variety. In September, members of Barba Shassus put on a successful music festival on the farm of one the members every year. The Swans Trail Music festival benefits local charities and features talented local northwest artists.
"Barba's" influences or respected musicians are- The Band, Neil Young, Mark Lanegan, Ryan Adams, Ray Lamontagne and My Morning Jacket to name a few of many.
