Bio
Wagner Barbosa (compositions, arrangements, guitar and voice)
Born in the town of Curitiba in May, 1980, Wagner Barbosa started, at the age of nine, studying how to play popular Brazilian rhythms in acoustic guitar. Later on, classical acoustic guitar for another five years. He graduated in Electrical Engineering in 2004, but his devotion for music always spoke louder. Still in Curitiba, he graduated as a Musica Popular Brasileira Specialist in 2005 at Faculdade de Artes do Paraná. In 2006, he moved to Sao Paulo in order to improve his popular guitar’s skills at Centro de Estudos Musicais Tom Jobim obtaining his certification after 4 years of studying Brazilian music’s legends. “Amanhecer”, his debut cd (2008) which has the partnership of the singer Paula Mirhan, really opened the way. The independent album distributed by Tratote (www.tratore.com.br) conquered the world and was among the TOP20 in sales, being absolutely sold out within a year. This same album got a new version, the special edition “Amanhecer Ao Vivo” (2010). In 2009, Wagner won the best music award at the “Festival de Musica de Jundiaí – São Paulo”, he also won the composition award from Centro Tom Jobim. Moreover, he performed with great names like: Chico Saraiva, Ana Luiza e Luis Felipe Gama, Conrado Paulino, Marcus Teixeira, Michel Leme. Wagner has already performed in France, Belgium, Estonia, and more recently a 30-concert tour at Poland, besides, of course, many concerts and festivals throughout Brazil.
Rafael Mota (Percussion)
Rafael Mota was born in Fortaleza, Ceará. For seven years living in Sao Paulo, he studied percussion with Guello and studying vibraphone with Beto Caldas Center of Musical Studies Tom Jobim. Even in Ceara, Rafael studied guitar at the Conservatory with Professor Alberto Nepomuceno José Maria de Araújo. Rafael Mota is a broad research work of Brazilian rhythms and form, still little known, of playing Brazilian percussion, an interesting mixture of percussion with drumset. In Brazil presents with the following groups: Nhambuzim who reads musical work of Guimarães Rosa; Zambelo that does covers of old sambas and Azdi, Klezmer Music Group. Participated in events: Winter Festival of Porto Feliz in 2007, Paranapiacaba Festival in 2008, Virada Cultural de São Bernardo do Campo in 2009 and the II International Festival of Klezmer Music in Buenos Aires – Argentina.
Kuba Palys (Piano e voz)
Kuba Palys was born in Poland and began playing piano at age 6. During his studies at the Department of Music, University of Marie Curie-Sklodowska in Lublin, he received an invitation to participate in an exchange program in Brazil, attending a semester at the Faculdade Santa Marcelina, Sao Paulo. The experiment, which was to have six months, ended up last 2 ½ years and the desire to delve into Brazilian music never ceased. Kuba has since 2007 invited young Brazilian musicians to tour in Poland. Until now there have been over fifty concerts with: Projeto Brasil Cantando, Sambosa, To Brandileone and Barbosa Trio (twice).
