Bio
A big family of nomad musicians from all over Europe has been creating itself in Barcelona since 2010. The starting point of this union were a series of jam sessions of gipsy jazz and balkan music. In these impovisation reunions, the artists shared their passion for experimentation using as a base traditional klezmer and gypsy repertoire. These ocations led them to establish strong creation ties. Throughout the months, and based on these foundations, this music family gave birth to the Barcelona Gipsy Klezmer Orchestra (BGKO).
The objetive of the musicians that form the band (with serbian, indian, italian, french, german, greek and catalan origins), is to generate a sincere and visceral reinterpretation of popular old songs, some of them forgotten, patronage of the gypsy music of the balkans and klezmer music, whose roots are to be found in Romania, Hungary, Poland and the Middle East.
Throughout the numerous concerts presented in various of the most simbolic venues of Barcelona´s alternative music scene, the irrepresable energy of the group and their refined and simultaneously psychedelic interpretations, put fire to the public´s mood, that joins with enthusiasm the festive, unforgettable nights.
